The National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts is crestfallen by the deeply troubling reports that Cesar Chavez sexually assaulted women who were central to driving the farmworker movement since the 1960s — including Dolores Huerta, a towering figure in her own right whose courage built this movement alongside him.
We are still processing what has been reported following a nearly five-year investigation by The New York Times. Our hearts go out to all those directly and indirectly harmed, and to a community now grappling with painful truths about those we have long honored.
