Federal education funding approved by Congress is facing administrative freezes, yet billions are spent without hesitation on foreign military operations that Congress never officially authorized.

Right here in Maryland’s 4th Congressional District, these priorities hit close to home. Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown recently stepped in to block federal cuts that threatened over $3 million in K-12 school mental health grants for local institutions like Bowie State University. These funds support counselors who work directly with public school students across Prince George’s County every day.

It is unacceptable to claim there isn't enough money for our children's education and well-being while funding unauthorized conflicts abroad.

Congress must uphold the oath they took to the U.S. Constitution, exercise their Article I authority, and stand up for the American people. We cannot stay silent while our future generations are sidelined.

Write to Representative Glenn Ivey, Senators Angela Alsobrooks and Chris Van Hollen, and your local representatives today. Demand that they stop approving blank checks for unauthorized wars and release the education funds our local classrooms were promised.

What an incredible day for East County!

This year’s Taste of Burtonsville- my heart is full. Our community came together in the best way possible—sharing meals, swapping stories, and celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures that makes Burtonsville feel like home.

Food, music, art, and heritage have always been the heartbeats of our community, and seeing everyone gather to honor those connections was truly special. From local families exploring the Kids Zone to neighbors dancing together during an unforgettable, high-energy set by The JoGo Project, the energy was electric from start to finish.

A huge thank you to all of our incredible local partners and participating restaurants—including our friends at Playa Bowls—for showing up, sharing their passion, and serving up incredible flavors from around the globe. Across all ten participating spots, every single bite was a reminder of how much creativity and talent thrive right here in our own backyard.

To everyone who bought a ticket, brought a friend, or volunteered your time: thank you. Every dollar raised supports the vibrant local culture and small businesses that keep our spirit strong.

We Asked for Transparency. The County Council Listened.

If you’ve been following what’s happening in Montgomery County over the last few months, you know how intense the conversation around data centers has gotten.

A lot of us have been asking simple, straightforward questions: What do these massive facilities mean for our power grid, our local water supply, and our utility bills?

I went to the council hearing to testify publicly because I believed our community deserved clear answers before anyone cleared land or broke ground. Big corporate developments shouldn’t get a free pass to operate in the dark, especially when their resource demands are this high.

Seeing the council’s Joint Committee vote for an 18-month moratorium on building permits for large data centers felt like a real, tangible win for grassroots advocacy.

This isn't about being against tech or progress. It’s about accountability.

Data centers pull an enormous amount of electricity to keep servers running 24/7, and they consume millions of gallons of water just for cooling systems. When that kind of strain hits local infrastructure, residents end up bearing the risk—whether that’s higher electricity bills, strain on our local watershed, or industrial noise in places that were never meant for heavy utility loads.

An 18-month pause gives our county time to step back, get the facts, and write real rules. Before a single permit is issued, these companies need to be totally open about their exact water and power usage, where that energy is coming from, and how they plan to protect the surrounding neighborhoods.

The full County Council votes on this moratorium on July 28. While this pause is a massive step in the right direction, it’s just the beginning. We need to make sure the permanent regulations we put on the books put residents, natural resources, and genuine transparency first.

Showing up to testify proved one thing: when we raise our voices together, decision-makers actually listen. Let's keep the momentum going.

To Mayor Kabir and Lieutenant Governor Miller, thank you for believing in the power of service and for encouraging those of us who continue to work every day to make a difference. Defending "We the People": A Response to the President’s Address!

Dear Friends:
Facts, Freedom, and the Foundation of Our Democracy!

Voting is a fundamental right, woven into the very fabric of our nation by the Founding Fathers. The Constitution gives Congress the authority to safeguard our elections, and any law they pass must be designed to benefit “We the People,” not to serve the interests of any one political party. Voting should be accessible, secure, and focused entirely on service to the public, rather than demanding allegiance to an individual or a political party.

Last night, President Trump delivered a primetime address that spread misinformation about the integrity of our elections and called for sweeping changes to how Americans register and vote. This is a direct attempt to interfere in matters that the Constitution largely leaves to state governments, and dismissing the board of the federal Election Assistance Commission only actively harms our election security.

As public servants, our primary responsibility is to protect the public trust, ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, and uphold the democratic institutions that our founders established. The President is doing the opposite.

Baseless claims carry real-world consequences. We saw this clearly following the 2020 election, when President Trump filed dozens of lawsuits across many states claiming widespread voter fraud. Every single one of those lawsuits was thrown out of court because absolutely no evidence was found. This included challenges in states led prominently by Republicans, where many Republican lawmakers publicly stated there was no fraud. The claim was, and has always been, completely baseless and false. Every time a leader tells Americans that our institutions are broken, they chip away at the foundation of our society. It is wrong, and it is dangerous.

Our commitment to transparency and competency is evident in the work of our dedicated election officials across Maryland. The State Board of Elections is composed of our neighbors and fellow citizens, people dedicated to upholding the integrity of our votes and ensuring every qualified voter can cast their ballot with ease and confidence.

Accountability relies entirely on transparency and facts. Whether we are addressing state affordability or discussing elections, public officials must share honest data, no matter how unpopular it might be. This same principle guides my work every day. I have focused on being completely transparent about both our challenges and our opportunities.

Rather than fueling distrust and division, our focus should be on strengthening our institutions, protecting the constitutional rights of eligible voters, and ensuring that government works directly for the people it serves.

As long as I have the privilege of serving our community, I will lead with integrity and stand up for the values that keep Maryland and our country strong.

From the deepest part of my heart, thank you.

Thank you for being with us on this special evening. Your presence, your words, your ideas, and your shared vision reminded me why this journey mattered so much. This was never just about a campaign. It was about people, relationships, service, and the belief that when we come together with purpose, we can create meaningful change.

Leadership is not defined by a title or a position. Leadership is built through years of showing up, listening, serving, mentoring, and helping others rise. It is measured by the lives we touch and the hope we create for the next generation.

While one chapter of this campaign has come to an end, our commitment to service continues. I am proud to share the next step in this journey: Pathways to Leadership, a program by Udion Foundation. This initiative will focus on mentoring and supporting young people and emerging leaders, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to make a difference in their communities.

A campaign is never built by money alone. It is built by people. It is built by those who knocked on doors, made phone calls, shared our message, offered encouragement, and gave their time and heart to this movement. Every conversation, every volunteer hour, and every act of kindness made this journey special.

I want to offer a very special thanks to our Honorable Mayor Fazlul Kabir, Mayor of College Park, MD, for joining us and sharing such an inspiring message. Your words reminded us of the importance of perseverance, community, and public service.

🩸❤️ A Small Act of Kindness That Can Change a Life ❤️🩸
July 13, 2026

Today, I rolled up my sleeve once again and donated blood with the American Red Cross. It is a simple act, but one filled with so much meaning and compassion.

For more than a decade, blood donation has been a part of my commitment to serving others. Every donation represents hope. It represents a second chance. It represents a precious gift that someone else desperately needs.

Over the years, my donations have been specifically designated to support children in need, including young warriors fighting cancer, undergoing life saving surgeries, or facing rare blood disorders. Thinking about these children and their families reminds me that even the smallest gesture of kindness can make the biggest difference.

A few minutes of our time can help a child see another birthday, help a family hold onto hope, and help someone continue their journey toward healing.

If you are healthy and eligible, I encourage you to consider donating blood. You never know whose life you may touch, but your kindness can become someone’s miracle.

I mourn the sudden passing of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. May he rest in peace. My sincere condolences go to his loved ones, and my prayers are with his family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who knew and cared for him.

While death calls us to show compassion, it also invites us to reflect honestly on the legacy our public servants leave behind. Senator Graham served our nation for more than three decades, and history will judge both his accomplishments and his failures.

What I will remember most is not simply the policies he supported, but the remarkable transformation of his own convictions.

During the 2016 Republican presidential campaign, Lindsey Graham was one of Donald Trump's strongest critics. He called him "crazy," "a jackass," and "a race baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot." He warned Republicans that nominating Trump would lead to defeat and famously declared, "There's only one way to make America great again. Tell Donald Trump to go to hell."

Those were not casual political attacks. They reflected Graham's own assessment of a man he believed was unfit to lead the United States.

Yet, after Donald Trump became President, Senator Graham underwent one of the most dramatic political reversals in modern American history. He became one of Trump's closest allies and most reliable defenders. Even after the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, when he stood on the Senate floor and declared, "Enough is enough," that separation proved temporary. Within months, he had fully returned to Trump's side.

For me, this was not simply a political shift. It raised deeper questions about leadership, integrity, and consistency. Public officials will inevitably change their minds as circumstances evolve. But when someone abandons principles they once defended so passionately, the public deserves an explanation.

Senator Graham's comments regarding the war in Gaza were equally troubling. He publicly declared, "I am with Israel. Do whatever the hell you have to do," urged that Gaza be "leveled," and later compared Israel's military campaign to the Allied bombings of Tokyo and Berlin during World War II. Those statements came during a conflict that resulted in devastating civilian casualties, including thousands of children. Whether one agreed with his broader support for Israel or not, many Americans viewed those remarks as abandoning the moral restraint that should accompany the immense power of the United States Senate.

Words matter. Especially when they come from one of one hundred United States Senators. Their words influence foreign policy, shape public opinion, and can affect decisions that determine life and death for millions of people around the world.

His career also reinforces why America should have a serious conversation about congressional term limits and reasonable age limits for elected office. Public service should never become a lifetime career insulated from accountability. Leadership is strongest when experienced public servants prepare the next generation to lead rather than holding power indefinitely.

History rarely remembers politicians for how long they served. It remembers them for the decisions they made when their character was tested.

Senator Lindsey Graham's legacy will always include decades of public service, military service, and significant influence over American foreign policy. It will also include the questions many Americans continue to ask about political consistency, moral courage, and whether loyalty to an individual ever outweighed loyalty to the principles he once championed.

May he rest in peace. May his family find comfort during this difficult time. And may every public servant remember that the greatest legacy is not measured by years in office, but by the integrity with which those years were served.

Recently, I had the privilege of visiting Nourish Now in Rockville, and I left inspired.

Thank you to the incredible staff, volunteers, and supporters who make this organization such an essential part of Montgomery County. The warm welcome, meaningful conversations, and behind-the-scenes tour gave me an even greater appreciation for the tremendous work being done every day to fight hunger while reducing food waste.

A special thank you to Payton Albers, Volunteer Coordinator, for taking the time to show me around and explain how Nourish Now serves thousands of families, seniors, veterans, and children throughout our community. Your passion for serving others is truly contagious.

Food insecurity remains one of the greatest challenges facing Montgomery County. As federal SNAP benefit reductions continue to impact working families, many of our neighbors are finding it harder than ever to put food on the table.

During my campaign, I made food security one of my priorities because I believe no family should have to choose between paying bills and feeding their children. That commitment did not end with the election. I will continue working with nonprofit organizations, businesses, faith communities, and community partners to find practical solutions that expand access to nutritious food for everyone who needs it.

To every volunteer, donor, employee, and community partner supporting Nourish Now—thank you for making Montgomery County stronger, kinder, and more compassionate.

I'll definitely be back soon to volunteer. Looking forward to serving alongside this amazing team!

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🎂

Today we celebrate 250 years of an extraordinary American journey—not a perfect one, but a remarkable one.

From the courage of our Founding Fathers to the wisdom of the Constitution they entrusted to us, America was founded on a revolutionary idea: that liberty belongs to every person, government derives its power from the people, and justice should be available to all.

Our nation has endured revolution, civil war, economic hardship, and countless challenges. We have made our share of mistakes, and at times poor leadership has taken us off course. Yet throughout our history, We the People have always found the strength to correct our path and continue building a more perfect Union.

Freedom and liberty remain the guiding principles of our democracy. The Constitution—not any one person—protects our rights, limits government power, and reminds us that sovereignty belongs to the people.

Today, I believe our nation faces another difficult chapter. I am deeply concerned by actions that I believe resemble authoritarian leadership and place personal power above our democratic institutions. But history reminds us that no leader is greater than the Constitution, and no administration is greater than the American people.

I have faith in our democracy. I have faith in our Constitution. And I have faith that this moment, too, shall pass.

The work of renewal begins with civic engagement, participation, and accountability—including the upcoming midterm elections.

As we celebrate America’s 250th Birthday, let us recommit ourselves to protecting our democracy, defending our freedoms, and leaving a stronger nation for the next generation.
