ASPPH is offering student volunteer opportunities at the 2026 for Academic Public Health.

Volunteers will assist with session coordination and on-site logistics and have the opportunity to engage directly with deans, faculty, staff, and public health professionals representing schools and programs nationwide.

In recognition of their service, student volunteers receive complimentary conference registration and formal acknowledgment of their contributions, including a letter of reference from the Volunteer Coordinator upon completion of their service. This experience provides meaningful professional development and networking opportunities for students preparing for careers in public health.

Schools and programs are encouraged to share this opportunity widely with their students.

Those interested can learn more and sign up by Friday, February 6, 2026. Learn more about eligibility and how to sign up: https://aspph.org/2026-aspph-annual-meeting-for-academic-public-health-a-call-for-student-volunteer-applicants-by-february-6/

❗ Raise Your Voice for Public Health ❗

The Department of Education’s proposed definition of “professional degrees” under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) excludes public health degrees such as the MPH and DrPH, as well as several other health professions degrees. This poses significant consequences for our students, our institutions, and the nation’s public health workforce. This change could restrict access to critical federal loan support and undermine efforts to prepare the public health workforce our communities rely on.

Now is the moment to take action and make your voice heard.

In 2015, the United Nation committed to 17 Sustainable Development Goals to be reached by 2030.

#6 of those goals focused on “Clean Water and Sanitation”.

There are many organizations working in partnership with the United Nations to achieve these goals that I encourage you all to look into.

Hygiene, and hand hygiene specifically, are of utmost importance for preventing the spread of disease. As someone who works within a healthcare setting, I know how strictly enforced and regulated our hand hygiene protocols are. Without access to clean water, or proper disinfectants, those protocols can never be met, and disease will continue to spread because of it.

As with water, excretion is also an absolute necessity for humans to live. Whether it goes into a treated plumbing system, or a nearby creek, it has to go somewhere. Left untreated, water contaminated with f***s can easily find its way back into the consumable water supply through groundwater reservoirs, open bodies of water, or failing plumbing systems.

Water is an absolute necessity for humans to live. But not all water is treated equally - literally.

Hi all, I am Caroline and I’ll be taking over the profile this week. I am excited to talk to you about WASH, the interconnected public health focus on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.

Many individuals take their access to these services for granted, but there are millions of individuals without access to safe or clean water, toilets or handwashing facilities.

This week I would like to talk about this critical public health and human rights issue and hopefully, inspire others to take action, just as I would like to.
