Founded in 1961 The Washington Chorus is one of the foremost symphonic choruses in the nation. Noted for the superb artistry of its performances and recordings of the entire range of the choral repertoire, TWC is widely recognized as a cultural leader in the nation’s capital. A three-time nominated and two-time Grammy Award winner, the 200-voice Washington Chorus presents an annual subscription series at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, regularly performs at the invitation of the National Symphony Orchestra, and is frequently featured in other venues such as the Music Center at Strathmore in Maryland and Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Virginia.

Please join us in welcoming Krista Bradley as The Washington Chorus's new Executive Director as we begin our 65th Season! 🎉

Between rehearsals, conversations with our singers and staff, partner events, her first Board meeting, and a wonderful welcome party, Krista's first few weeks have been full, and your warm wishes have meant so much.

As she begins this new chapter with TWC, Krista is focused on deep listening and learning—getting to know our singers, audiences, supporters, partners, and the wider community. In the weeks ahead, she’s especially looking forward to meeting more of the longtime patrons, donors, and friends whose commitment has helped sustain and build TWC over the years.

Our first BSO collaboration of the season is only two weeks away! 🎶✨

From October 15 to 18, in recognition of the 25th anniversary of September 11, Marin Alsop leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in a program that opens what composer John Adams called a “memory space,” in his Pulitzer Prize-winning "On the Transmigration of Souls".

For many years, TWC has been lucky to have a continuing partnership with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, with frequent collaborations bringing together these two fixtures in the Baltimore and DC arts scene to create powerful performances and meaningful community connections.

This season, TWC has two exciting collaborations planned with the BSO, beginning with John Adams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning composition, “On the Transmigration of Souls,” with performances October 15-18.

This deeply profound piece, written to memorialize the victims of the 9/11 attacks, is performed by TWC and the BSO with both mournful resilience and a powerful sense of resistance. Its presentation by two leading cultural institutions in the region offers a moving opportunity to reflect on loss, resilience, and the enduring power of art to bring communities together.

December 12 to 22, TWC is joined by some incredible soloists for "A Candlelight Christmas", including 2X Grammy-Nominee Christie Dashiell, award-winning organist Paul Byssainthe Jr., locally renowned opera singer Colleen Daly, and DC-based soprano Deborah Stenberg.

Bringing even more holiday spirit, TWC is also joined by choruses from Howard University, Reservoir High School, and South Loudon Youth Chorale, as well as National Capital Brass and Percussion.

It’s been in the works for a while, and we’re thrilled to finally share the news: the National Symphony Orchestra will join The Washington Chorus for our 65th Anniversary Concert! 🎶

It’s especially fitting to celebrate this milestone with one of TWC’s longtime orchestral collaborators. Together, with TWC Artistic Director Eugene Rogers leading the way, the NSO and our superb Choristers will come together for an inspiring and joyous afternoon of music at DAR Constitution Hall.

This promises to be a landmark moment in TWC’s 65-year history, and we’re proud to celebrate this milestone with the NSO. We are grateful for their continued partnership and support of our work.

This October, The Washington Chorus joins the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to perform John Adams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning “On the Transmigration of Souls”, a memorial to those lost on September 11.
