The Truman Scholars Association is soliciting applicants for the Board of Directors for the 2026-2029 term. All interested Truman Scholars – of any background, from any year, working in public service or not – are invited to apply. We especially welcome applications from previous applicants and Scholars from earlier class years (1970s-2000s), as well as Scholars interested in learning about or who already have experience in event planning and programming, website management, finance and governance, and communications.

Each year, on or around May 8th (Harry S. Truman’s birthday), Trumans across the world gather for Toast to Truman—a time to reconnect, celebrate leadership & service, and raise a glass to our incredible community.

Want to host a gathering in your city? It’s simple! Pick a location, invite fellow Scholars, and TSA will provide a small contribution toward appetizers. A virtual event and social media celebrations are also in the works. We already have Trumans interested in hosting gatherings in Phoenix, Pittsburgh, New York City, and New Haven—join them or start one in your city!

✨ Help Welcome the Next Generation of Truman Scholars! ✨

Finalist Dinners are a meaningful way to introduce the 2025 Truman Finalists to our community, offering encouragement and camaraderie before their interviews. We’re still looking for hosts and co-hosts in two cities!

📍 Opportunities to Get Involved:
🌟 Phoenix – March 9 (Host + 2 Co-Hosts)
🌟 Atlanta – March 16 (Host + 2 Co-Hosts)

We’re also looking for co-hosts in Austin on March 4, Seattle on March 6, Denver on March 13, Nashville on March 18, and Chicago on March 23.

As a host or co-host, you’ll help create a warm, welcoming space for finalists as they take their next steps toward careers in public service.

Board Directors serve a 3 year term, and typically commit 2-8 hours per month in order to accomplish our goals. All interested Truman Scholars - of any background, from any year, working in public service or not - are invited to send applications. Previous applicants and Scholars from earlier class years (70s, 80s, 90s) are highly encouraged to apply.

It’s Toast to Truman week! Join us at a virtual or in-person event, or enter our photo contest. From May 8 - 11, snap a photo of you toasting wherever you are. You do not need to attend a Toast to Truman event to participate. Simply post your photo with the hashtag and tag us on Facebook (), Instagram (), or LinkedIn ( Scholars Association).

Each post is an entry in our photo contest. Be creative and feel free to incorporate President Truman in some way. Include your friends, colleagues, and family members.
