Beautiful post by the winner of the 2nd Prize at the 2010 Chopin Competition in Warsaw - Ingolf Wunder 😍

That was 2010 Chopin Competition (drawing lots). This year’s edition has almost started, participants know their order of playing and at the moment they are probably all anxious, focused and full of hope. At this point I would like to wish all of you best of luck.🍀 Whatever happens, always remember that the competition is NOT your final destination! It doesn’t determine your future unless you allow it to do so. This is quite important to understand, because some of very good musicians might be out in the first round and feel crushed, while some that are not so great might pass to the next round. That’s life. But as Churchill said “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Do what you really love, stay true to yourself and work hard, and then life will give you success, happiness and fulfillment.🏆👍😉
In the next couple of weeks I’ll keep my fingers crossed for all of you: Good luck! Viel Glück! Powodzenia! Bonne chance! … But most importantly: I keep my fingers crossed for MUSICALITY to win!!! 🎶🤞

PS One more thing to the picture. I recall the room full was of participants and jury members. People were extremely tense, some drew lots with a shaky hand as the number would decide whether they’re in or out. One felt the stress in the air. I drew my number which was 66, but to ease the tension in the room, my inner joker-spirit decided to show it upside down: 99. Everybody knew there were only 89 participants so I heard a sigh of confusion amongst the crowd and when I turned it back, finally a bit of tension was replaced by chuckle and smile.😉
This smiling girl behind me is Paulina, my wife now. As you see, I won in 2010 big time!😁 And with all the projects we’re able to work on together while being a happy couple, the winning streak continues.😉

8 out of 87 admitted pianists are 2021 Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Piano Academy participants!!!
Congratulations to Victoria Wong, Xiaoxuan Li, Jaeyoon Lee, Sohgo Sawada, Hayato Sumino, Sarah Tuan, Boao Zhang and Yilan Zhao!!!
You are all rockstars and we'll be cheering for you in Warsaw this October!
