Last week, one of the people we proudly support enjoyed a fun outing to see the Disney Moana movie. Community experiences like this are more than just a trip to the theater—they promote inclusion, choice, social engagement, and participation in activities that reflect each person’s unique interests.

Every smile, every adventure, and every shared experience is a reminder that people thrive when they are supported to live full, meaningful lives in their communities.

🚨 Health & Joy Services Safety Alert 🚨

🌫️ AIR QUALITY ALERT – WILDFIRE SMOKE

The Washington, DC and Maryland region is currently experiencing unhealthy to very unhealthy air quality due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.

At Health & Joy Services, the health and safety of the people we support and our Joy Makers always comes first.

Please take these precautions:

✅ Limit outdoor activities whenever possible.
✅ Move community outings indoors.
✅ Keep windows closed and use air conditioning on recirculate.
✅ Stay hydrated.
✅ Wear a well-fitting N95/KN95 mask if you must be outside for extended periods.
✅ Watch for coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, or eye irritation.

Extra precautions should be taken for:

❤️ Older adults
❤️ Children
❤️ People with asthma or other respiratory conditions
❤️ People with heart disease or weakened immune systems

Our teams are modifying activities as needed to continue providing safe, person-centered support while protecting everyone’s health.

Together, we can continue delivering Service From the Heart while keeping our communities safe.
