U.S.- Mexico Foundation The U.S.-Mexico Foundation is a binational nonprofit dedicated to fostering binational cooperation and understanding between the United States and Mexico.

We began operations in 2009 with seed funding from the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Carnegie C The USMF is a binational nonprofit launched in 2009 dedicated to strengthening education and youth leadership for Mexicans on both sides of the border while fostering binational cooperation and understanding between the United States and Mexico. We achieve our mission by:
a) Implementing unique binational programs. b) Promoting constructive dialogue of key binational issues.

The September Bilateral X-Ray from USMF and IMCO reviews 40 think tank publications on Mexico, the U.S. and Canada. Here’s what stood out:

🌎 Why it matters
🇲🇽🇺🇸 Reciprocal tariffs of 15% could reduce Mexico’s economy by as much as 1.2%, relative to the baseline forecast.
📈 Mexico’s technology manufacturing FDI rose 187% in the first half of 2026.
🚗 In 2025, Mexico–U.S. goods trade reached about US$795 billion.

| 🇲🇽🇺🇸🇨🇦 North America is built to compete. Now, make it easier to invest.

In his latest NCF26 op-ed, Phil Clement, NCF26 Fellow and President and CEO of World Business Chicago, makes the case for a more practical North American investment strategy.

The region already has the ingredients:

🏭 Industrial capacity
⚡ Energy and natural resources
💡 Research and technology
💰 Capital
👩‍🔬 Talent
🚚 Deep supply chains
🌎 One of the world’s largest consumer markets

The challenge is connecting those strengths.

From autos and EVs to semiconductors and advanced electronics, each country brings capabilities the others can build on. Economic security doesn’t require three countries to replicate everything independently—it requires knowing where integration creates strength.

The goal isn’t integration for its own sake. It’s making investment stronger, supply chains safer, and North America more competitive.

The assets are already here. The work now is to make them easier to use together.

| Cerramos los Diálogos Estratégicos México–Estados Unidos con una conversación sobre un sector clave para el futuro de Norteamérica: los semiconductores.

En esta cuarta y última sesión, organizada por la U.S.-Mexico Foundation (USMF) y la Asociación Mexicana de Secretarios de Desarrollo Económico (AMSDE), Jesús Silva, director asociado de Operaciones de Programas en Arizona State University, compartió perspectivas sobre la relevancia de esta industria y las oportunidades de colaboración regional.

Con la participación de representantes de 18 entidades federativas a través de sus secretarías de Economía, este seminario reafirmó la importancia del diálogo y la cooperación para fortalecer las agendas económicas de los estados.

| What do Americans really think about Mexico and the North American relationship? 🇺🇸🇲🇽

The 6th edition of our U.S.–Mexico public opinion survey offers a picture that is encouraging—but also realistic.

Conducted by Echelon Insights in collaboration with the U.S.-Mexico Foundation, AmCham Mexico and AMPIP, the survey shows that Americans continue to see value in the relationship, particularly when it comes to trade and the economy.

A few findings stand out:

🇺🇸🇲🇽 52% of U.S. voters say trade with Mexico makes their cost of living cheaper.

🤝 50%say Mexico helps promote a strong economy on our continent.

🌎 Voters also see a clear net benefit from free trade and security cooperation with other countries.

At the same time, the survey points to an important challenge: understanding of the U.S.–Mexico relationship and USMCA remains limited.

That matters. Because North America isn’t just about trade agreements or government-to-government relations. It is about the products people buy, the jobs they hold, the investments that create opportunity and the security of our shared region.

The relationship has challenges. But it also has a strong foundation—and Americans are seeing more clearly that what happens with Mexico matters at home.

There is work to do. And there is a lot worth building on.

| 🤖🔐 La tecnología está transformando nuestras economías.

La U.S.-Mexico Foundation (USMF), en colaboración con la Asociación Mexicana de Secretarios de Desarrollo Económico (AMSDE), llevó a cabo la tercera sesión de los Diálogos Estratégicos México–Estados Unidos sobre Competitividad Regional, titulada “Inteligencia Artificial y ciberseguridad: agenda para el desarrollo económico”.

La conversación reunió a representantes de las Secretarías de Desarrollo Económico y Economía de las entidades federativas para hablar sobre cómo aprovechar la IA, impulsar la innovación y fortalecer la ciberseguridad.

Iñigo Fernández, Director de Políticas Públicas para México, Centroamérica y el Caribe en Meta y miembro del Advisory Council de USMF, compartió sus perspectivas sobre las oportunidades y desafíos de estas tecnologías y su aplicación en los servicios gubernamentales.
