🎭 Learning about China’s diverse cultures at Yunnan Ethnic Village

🎓 Engaging with students and scholars at Yunnan University

🌿 Taking in the natural beauty of Laoyuhe National Wetland Park

🌸 Wandering the colorful Dounan Flower Market before traveling to Dali

🏯 Strolling through the historic streets of Dali Ancient City

♻️ Discovering sustainable innovation at the Xiangyun County Economic Development Zone Zero-Carbon Exhibition Hall and BTR New Energy Enterprise

🐎 Tracing history at the Yunnanyi Caravan Culture Museum and the World War II China-India-Burma Transportation History Museum

🌾 Exploring the timeless beauty of Xizhou Ancient Town

🍵 Experiencing the warmth and hospitality of the Bai people through the traditional Three-Course Tea Ceremony

Gorgeous Montana! The ChASC 6 delegation loved spending time in the fresh air and enjoying the sunshine. But they didn’t just hang out, they also learned a lot about ecology, the region, and the indigenous peoples of the area.

Our thoughts are with everyone in Kumamoto and those affected by the earthquake. Last summer, Kumamoto welcomed the JASC 77 delegation and we experienced the warmth of 34 families in Amakusa who opened their homes to us. It is those families and the entire community we think of today as rescue teams search for survivors and the international community mobilizes to provide support.

For those who want to donate, we are recommending the matching fund created by the United States-Japan Foundation and its US-Japan Leadership Program that will support on the ground efforts of Peace Winds America, a leading organization in the relief efforts. Join us as we celebrate the culmination of the 78th Japan-America Student Conference! For three weeks, JASC delegates will have traveled together through San Francisco, Nashville, and Washington, D.C. — studying, leading, and building the next generation of U.S.-Japan relations.

Since 1934, JASC has brought together university students from Japan and the U.S. for a student-led exchange unlike any other. Now it's time to see what they've built.

✨ At the Final Forum, delegates will present original research across 7 roundtable themes — from International Politics and Innovation to Arts, Health, Media, and more.

🎤 The Forum will also feature video remarks from Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, and keynote speeches by Ms. Teruko Wada (Executive Director, Keidanren USA) and Amb. Daniel Kritenbrink (Partner, The Asia Group) .

Entirely planned and led by an elected student Executive Committee, JASC 78 reflects how the next generation sees one of the world's most important bilateral partnerships. Come celebrate their work! 🎉

We did it... and it's all thanks to you.

When ISC faced the daunting $150,000 shortfall this spring, caused by federal funding cuts, foundation pullback, and rising costs, we launched our emergency “Close the Gap” campaign to raise the remaining funds needed for the summer programs.

We asked the community to step up. You did.
We are thrilled to share that we have officially reached our goal.

If you’ve given—THANK YOU.
If you shared our message—THANK YOU.

Your generosity made this possible. It reflects the depth of this community’s commitment and connection, and our entire team is profoundly grateful for the way alumni, delegates, families, and friends rallied together.

🇨🇳 A visit to the Chinese Embassy to hear from Chinese diplomats are various topics
💬 A six-party talks diplomatic simulation facilitated by the Korea Economic Institute of America
🔎 Exploring the museums, Chinatown, National Cathedral, and other important DC sites.

The Opening Ceremony, which officially launched the three-week program, was held on July 7th and featured remarks from Mr. Liu Chang, Chief of the Information and Public Affairs Section at the Chinese Embassy in the U.S., Ms. Liu Yunyun, Deputy Editor in Chief of CICG Americas, along with a Keynote on the what, why, and how of ChASC from Amb. Kurt Tong, ISC Board Chair and Partner at the Asia Group, and a special lecture on the power of small business by Sam Walls III, the CEO of ACC Capital.

Stay tuned for more ChASC adventures as they travel to Missoula, MT, and then China, making stops in Kunming, Dali, and Beijing. ✈️
