The first day of our 2026 Alumni Network Gathering has officially closed!

We were honored to have Ambassador Marjon Kamara, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Liberia, and PYPP Mentor, give the keynote address during our Opening Ceremony. Amb. She also reminded young leaders present that the art of learning and effective leadership requires humility and called on partners to deepen intentional investment in young leaders who are ethical and committed to building institutions that work for all people.

H.E former President, Nobel Laureate, and EPL Co-Founder and Chair Emeritus, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, shared a video message reminding alumni of their mission to ensure that the promise of youth leadership continues to spread across Africa and that every young person, regardless of background, has the opportunity to rise.

It was a privilege to be joined by many other distinguished speakers and guests, both in-person and virtual, including
Dr. Elizabeth Obeng-Yeboah, Director of the Recruitment, Training and Development, Office Of The Head Of Civil Service - OHCS;
Hon. Dahnu Mianyen, MPA, Deputy Director General and Liberia Alumni, who conveyed remarks on behalf of Dr. Josiah F. Joekai, Director General, Civil Service Agency - Liberia;

representatives from the Mastercard Foundation, the National Commission on Persons with Disabilities, the Future of Development Cooperation Coalition, and Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation.

As well as the many members present who gave testimony to the imprint our fellowship program made on their life as leaders.

Thank you to the President's Young Professionals Program - PYPP for the warm welcome to Liberia, and for beginning the two-day conference with unity and intentionality to improve and promote inclusive governance across the continent.

We look forward to sharing more learnings and leadership tomorrow!
