Adelante Reunificationistas, Nonprofit Entity, San Juan de Puerto Rico
Presentation and Manifesto
Description
The Reunificationists are Puerto Ricans who are looking for a future of well-being together with Spain. We believe that Puerto Rico is Spain, a province that was militarily invaded and separated from its homeland. We focus on promoting the political option of reuniting Puerto Rico with Spain as the 18th Spanish Autonomous Community, within the European Union. We advocate for the reunification of Puerto Rico to Spain as an option for the future and decolonization, as well as a dignified political option for wellbeing and prosperity.
Profile of the Entity
Puerto Rican and non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the reunification of Puerto Rico with Spain, as its 18th Autonomous Community. The Reunificationists are Former Pro Statehhod, Former Commonwealth, Former Separatists, Not Affiliates and Others UNITED! to free Puerto Rico from US Colonialism.
Historical Reason
Puerto Rico, the Island of Enchantment, has always been an essential part and heart of Spain, it was the First Autonomous Province of Spain from which we were separated against our will by force. Now that in Boriquén the desire to return to the Motherland has been awakened again, from Adelante Reunificationists and the Platform Adelante Reunificationists we want to show our support and fight for this ideal of union.
120 years ago it appeared published in the Gaceta de Madrid the Charter of Autonomy of Puerto Rico, granted by the government of liberal Práxedes Mateo Sagasta-President of the Council of Ministers, and signed by Queen Regent Maria Cristina de Hapsburg-Lorraine on behalf of his son, Alfonso XIII of Spain.
We are facing the first Statute of Autonomy granted in Spain to one of its "Overseas" provinces. Its promulgation was also accompanied by the recognition of the "Universal Male Suffrage". That said, the document established an insular parliament divided into: a House of Representatives and a Board of Directors, with jurisdiction in all local matters in addition to, in Grace and Justice, Governance, Finance and Development. The supreme authority would be held by a Governor General, who, elected by the King at the proposal of the Cortes, would exercise the legislative power together with the Island Chambers.
The autonomic regime entered into full effect on February 10 of the following year, and although its implementation was first conditioned by the effects of the Spanish-American war, and later by the unfortunate cession of the island, the truth is that we are facing the most advanced document of self-government - along with that of Cuba - of all the European provinces of the Caribbean, far surpassing the demands of the Puerto Rican Autonomist Party and even superior to that between Canada and England.
All these advances came to an end with the US invasion of the former Spanish Autonomous Province with representation in the Senate and the House of Delegates of Spain was reduced to a colony of exploitation, after 120 years of US sovereignty Puerto Rico has not recovered the levels of freedom, democracy, representativeness, progress and self-government that the Autonomic Charter and Autonomic Reform of 1898 provided us.We aspire to undo the damage caused, returning to our hispanic roots.
What is the Puerto Rican Reunificationism?
The Puerto Rican Reunificationism is defined as the feeling on the part of the citizens of Puerto Rico, to return to being Spanish and the desire that their land be part of Spain, a Spanish Autonomous Province Invaded by the USA.
Its attractiveness, that Spain has a system of Autonomies in which, as the Constitution of 1978 says literally: "it recognizes and guarantees the right to autonomy of the nationalities and regions that integrate it and the solidarity among all of them". That is, union does not mean uniformity.
Reunificationism is an apolitical ideal in the sense of the left / right axes. It is open to anyone who simply wants Puerto Rico’s Hispanic lands to be part of Spain and its citizens to be Spanish citizens. To achieve our goals we should not limit the motivations that each one may have, each one is free to defend that ideal for ideological, cultural, social, emotional, historical or patriotic reasons.
Among all the Hispanic world, Puerto Rico is a special case. We Puerto Ricans never fought to become independent from Spain and our separation from it was imposed. Puerto Ricans fought against the Brittish during the Us’s War of Independence, along Spaniards of Spain, Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico origin while under the leadership of then Louisiana Governor, Bernardo De Gálvez, and won all battles in the South, assisting General George Washington while he was losing his, only to be paid with treachery once the US decided to be an Empire and have colonies.
In order to support the reunificationist ideal, Adelante Reunificationists and the Adelante Reunificationists platform were created. Wherever there are Puerto Ricans who call themselves "Spanish" they will have our support.
Adelante Reunificationists and the Adelante Reunificationist platform continually reflects, debates and broadens its bases, ideas and proposals, always aimed at strengthening the links between Puerto Rico and Spain and achieving its ultimate goal of the reunification of Puerto Rico with Spain under a Statute of Autonomy and within of the European Union.
Welcome everyone.
