This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with loved ones and reflect on what this day represents, we’re grateful for the simple moments that bring people together—from a flag raised in remembrance to time spent outdoors. Vinyl and PVC materials often play a quiet role in these everyday settings, from flagpoles to pools and outdoor furniture, helping support the spaces where we gather and reflect.

Today, we remember with gratitude.

Last fall in Amesville, Ohio, a community came together to help bring something many of us take for granted—reliable access to clean water.

Through a partnership with Water Well Trust and other dedicated organizations, a new well and pump system were installed, helping ensure safe, dependable water for a local family. The Vinyl Institute was proud to support the project by donating PVC piping to help deliver water safely and reliably.

Grateful to be part of work that makes a lasting difference. 💧

Yesterday was Stop Food Waste Day, and it’s still a great time to highlight the role packaging can play in preventing food waste at home and across the supply chain.

Vinyl (PVC) is used in a variety of food packaging applications designed to help protect food quality—such as PVC food wrap films, vinyl coatings used in some metal can linings (including for acidic foods), and vinyl sealants that help create airtight seals for caps and closures on bottles and jars.

When food stays fresher longer, less ends up being thrown away and wasted.

🔧 Today is National Plumbers Day!

Plumbers play a critical role in keeping our homes, businesses, and communities running—often out of sight, and always under pressure.

Many of the systems they install and maintain rely on vinyl (PVC) materials, including PVC pipes and fittings used for water delivery, wastewater, and drainage. These durable, corrosion-resistant products help plumbers build systems designed to last for decades.

Today, we say thank you to the plumbers who keep everything flowing.

As we wrap up the Vinyl Congressional Fly‑In, we want to say thank you to everyone who joined us in Washington for an impactful few days on Capitol Hill.

Your advocacy, engagement, and conversations with policymakers helped elevate the voice of the vinyl industry and reinforced the important role vinyl plays in our economy, infrastructure, and everyday lives. We’re also grateful to our speakers and congressional offices who took the time to share insights and perspectives with our members.

Thank you for showing up, speaking up, and representing the vinyl industry so well. We’re proud of this community and look forward to continuing the conversation.

🌍 Happy Earth Day!

Sustainability progress depends on real data and real investment. Today, more than 1.1 billion pounds of PVC are recycled every year in the U.S. and Canada, showing the value of durable materials and established recycling systems.

At the Vinyl Institute, we’re building on that progress through initiatives like the VIABILITY Grant Program, which provides funding for projects that expand post-consumer PVC recycling capacity, technology, and access.

On Earth Day—and every day—we’re committed to supporting practical solutions that keep vinyl products in use and out of landfills.

Today is Record Store Day—a great reason to show some love to independent record stores and the communities around them.

And a quick Vinyl Institute fun fact: the “vinyl” in vinyl records is real—records are pressed from vinyl (polyvinyl chloride/PVC), the material that makes those tiny grooves possible.
