The situation of journalists in Iraq has not changed much, it's the fifteenth anniversary of the Coalition invasion since April 2003.
As the political situation in the country continues to deteriorate, press freedoms continuing to fall , and despite defeating extremist groups, the challenges are becoming more uncertain and dangerous.

Shifa Zikri Ibrahim, professionally known as , was born as refugee in on July 1, 1986.
She was a graduate of the media department of Salahaddin University in and began her journalism career in 2006. She was a part of Media Network since its foundation.

Gardi, who was reporting on the war against in western for her daily TV programme Focus Mosul, was killed near Mosul on February 25, 2017. Her cameraman Younis Mustafa was injured in the same attack.

She was killed by an ISIS bomb planted on the edge of the Khasfa pit, a mass burial site south of the city.
A number of Hashd al-Shaabi fighters accompanying her to the spot were also killed and others wounded.

ISIS used Khasfa pit, or Death Valley, near the village of al-Athba 20 kilometers south of Mosul, as an open mass grave, killing large numbers at the site and dumping their bodies into what was a natural sink hole.

OKP (formerly known as NFP) and MSP scholarships

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides OKP (formerly known as NFP) and MSP scholarships for the RNTC courses for media and communications professionals from a variety of partner countries. The scholarships include a contribution towards the cost of living, the course fees, visa, travel and insurance. If applicable, the scholarship holder is expected to cover the difference between actual costs and the OKP or MSP scholarship amount.



The scholarships are administered by Nuffic, the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education. OKP stands for 'Orange Knowledge Programme' and these scholarships are available for 51 countries. MSP stands for ‘MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Scholarship Programme’ and is available for 10* countries. Please check below whether you meet the criteria to apply for a OKP or MSP scholarship.

You may qualify for a scholarship for an RNTC course. The most commonly used scholarships for our courses are the OKP (formerly know as NFP) and MSP (MENA) scholarships.
