Undetectable is the foundation. Living well is the goal. 💪🏾

We recently shared a new resources on what’s next in HIV care, including takeaways from the 2026 International AIDS Conference. Topics include new treatment options like weekly pills, twice-yearly PrEP shots, mental health, aging with HIV, and why access matters as much as new medicine.

Stigma silences people. It’s time to break that silence. 💡

The 17th Annual International Conference on Stigma is coming up November 18–20, 2026, hosted by Howard University. YOU can join in-person or online!

This year’s theme is “Shattering Stigma: Let Your Light Shine. Break the Stigma.” It’s a chance to hear real stories and learn how we can support people living with HIV and other health conditions without judgment.

On October 11, 1987, the AIDS Memorial Quilt was displayed for the first time on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., during the National March on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights. It covered a space larger than a football field and included 1,920 panels, each honoring a life lost to AIDS.

Today, we remember and honor every person represented in the Quilt, and we continue the fight to end the HIV epidemic.

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

🌟 Focus on positivity: Identify and challenge negative and unhelpful thoughts.
🌟 Try a relaxing activity: Meditate, take a walk, or listen to music.

New Partner Resource 📚

Our partners at LULAC recently published a new resource highlighting the looming Medicaid funding cliff facing Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 Current enhanced federal funding expires on September 30, 2027.

Without congressional action, federal Medicaid funding for the island could fall by nearly 90 percent in FY 2028, while the federal matching rate would drop from 76 percent to 55 percent. Medicaid supports health coverage for roughly 42 percent of Puerto Rico’s population, meaning a sharp funding reduction could significantly disrupt coverage and strain the island’s broader health system.

What happens to your information after an HIV test? Who sees it, and why?

A team from Emory University worked with community members, people living with HIV, public health workers and providers to answer those questions in plain language. Over nine months, they co-created the River of Detecting and Responding to Rapid HIV Transmission. It's an illustrated guide and animation in English and Spanish that walks through how HIV transmission networks are detected and how public health responds.

It's built to be explored together, by an outreach worker and a community member or a clinician and a patient, so everyone can ask questions and form their own views.

📣 Your Voice Matters: Public Comment is Open on the Proposed 2030 Census Rule

The Census Bureau has proposed new rules that would limit which demographic questions can appear on the 2030 census, including questions about race and ethnicity, and would change how "usual residence" is defined. 🗳️

For our community, this isn't just a numbers issue. Census data informs how funding and resources are distributed and helps us see where health disparities exist. Accurate data on the communities most affected by HIV is essential to ending the epidemic.

Anyone can submit a comment, and YOU can do it anonymously. The deadline has been extended to October 13, 2026.
