What does it actually look like to
rehearse for change?

Rehearsal for Change uses theatre, storytelling, and
collective practice to help people turn lived experience
into powerful testimony.

Through games, exercises, storytelling, and forum
theatre, participants have the opportunity to explore
their experiences, strengthen their voices, and practice
speaking to the issues that matter to them.

Our next Rehearsal for Change will focus on solitary
confinement and the ERASE Bill—creating space for
community members to prepare their stories and
testimony for the next iteration of the bill.

It’s bittersweet to share that Maddy, our very first staff member, is moving on to new adventures. Beginning as an intern in 2023 and transitioning to the Organizational Coordinator role later that year, Maddy has been an essential part of the team. From day one, she poured her heart into Ally Theatre & Voices Unbarred, shaping who we are today. Her dedication, creativity, and belief in the power of our work helped us grow to a new level.

Maddy’s passion and hard work will always be part of ATVU. From strengthening our communications to organizing events, we are endlessly grateful for all she’s built. We can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next. Please join us in thanking Maddy!

Shout out to graphic designer and artist, Reagan, for creating our beautiful, new brochure! We are so grateful to her for lending her talents to the ATVU community. Catch a sneak peek of the brochure above, and keep your eye out for the physical copies at our events this year.

With great food, lively music, and amazing company, our ATVU community holiday party was a wonderful way to wrap up the year! We were ecstatic to gather together to celebrate, recall our favorite ATVU memories, and discuss what we’re looking forward to the most in the new year.

We are so excited to announce that we have been selected by Fair Chance to be one of their nonprofit Pathways Partners! Our Artistic Director and Board Chair have started working with Fair Chance’s Capacity Building Specialist to start assessing the organization and the projects that will be worked on for the next 8 months. We are honored to be in this cohort with three other amazing nonprofits and are excited to learn and expand our capacity through this opportunity!

We are honored to announce that is supporting our work! Being part of their 2024 class, alongside incredible peer nonprofits, shows both the critical impact we make as an organization and our collective strength as a local movement.
