Curious about places in the DMV that are currently open with timed entrances to museums? This is a great resource with updated information as certain places begin to open up as vaccines continue to open up for all people. The 'National Museum of Women in the Arts' is open and has some excellent exhibits to check out. One in particular (by artist Sonya Clark), highlights the artist’s well-known mixed-media sculptures that address race and visibility, explore Blackness, and redress history.

Textile and social practice artist Sonya Clark (b. 1967) is renowned for her mixed-media works that address race and visibility, explore Blackness, and redress history. This exhibition—the first survey of Clark’s 25-year career—includes the artist’s well-known sculptures made from black pock...

✨This weekend, we encourage you to take some time to do some additional research into this countries past to better understand the layers and levels of discrimination that is on the rise. There are no words we can share to express how this past weeks events have impacted us.

We understand that as a community working within the media field, our words matter. The messages we share out directly impact and create a ripple effect of action and thoughts and it's extremely important to take some time to think about what this all means. We're usually the ones on the front lines and are in a reaction headspace, instead of a proactive headspace. There's a difference, let's think ahead in ways to improve the outcomes.

We encourage everyone who has a platform so use it wisely, share with empathy and give people the TOOLS they are needing to improve the environment and world we're living in together. Now is certainly the time and space to do that. Sending lots of love and peace to all those continuing to be impacted by everything taking place currently. We can certainly do better and we truly must within our mediums. ✨

This is a fast and easy read, also incredibly valuable in it's point on leadership. They validate it here stating,
"We live in a time when teaching people how to lead wisely and well will no longer suffice—if it ever did. For the system to work and for cooperation, collaboration, and compromise regularly to take place, teaching people how to follow wisely and well must be equally important. If the leadership industry is to realize its promise and potential, it will have to evolve. It will have to become, like the rest of America, more inclusive." 🍾

If the leadership industry is to realize its promise and potential, it will have to evolve. It will have to become, like the rest of America, more inclusive.

We think we always know, but then we're told something completely different. Here's another one that seems obvious, but sometimes that's the one thing that stands in our way of seeing it in full.

What makes a person successful?

This is something that we've always felt we were doing better than others, now we know it's true.

We like to start off the year with new ideas, perspectives in addition to reflections. Here's some great questions to write down and answer for yourself today through the weekend. Wishing everyone a healthy and promising year ahead!🤩

1. Did the change in pace and routine in 2020 reveal new priorities to you? If so, which would you like to take forward?

2. List all the things and words that can help motivate and energize you for the year to come. - What's one word from that list you can hold as a reminder as you go through 2021?

3. When you are standing in December 2021, what do you want to look back and remember about your year, your growth or yourself?

4. Acknowledging what drains you doesn't have to be negative. Recognizing those moments can help you redirect them. What circumstances in the past year took away your energy? How could you balance those draining parts of the day?

5. Taking time to recognize the things that give you energy makes a way for them to be internally woven into the rhythms of the days ahead. What moments or circumstances from this past year energized you in new ways? How can you consciously build these components into your everyday as you move forward?
