Guam Club in the United States. Joining is simple and can be done on our website at www.guamsocietyinc.org. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, membership dues are tax deductible along with any contributions made to the Society (please consult your tax advisor for additional details). Dangkulu na Si Yu’us Ma’ase for your support! The Guam Society of America, Inc. (GSA) in Washington, D.C. with over 250 family members from around the nation’s capital and throughout the United States. The Society endeavors: 1) to foster and encourage educational, cultural, civic and social programs and activities among the members and friends of the Society in the District of Columbia and its surrounding communities, and whenever possible throughout the United States and its territories. 2) to foster and perpetuate the Chamorro language, culture and traditions. Any Chamorro (a native of Guam, Saipan or any of the Mariana Islands) or any person who has a bona fide interest in the purposes of the Society is eligible for membership. The Guam Society was originally known as the Guam Territorial Society until 1986 when its name was changed to its current form. The Society was first organized in 1952 when a group of Chamorros living in the DC area decided to form an organization to represent Guam in the Conference of State Societies, which was formally created on April 3, 1952 by an act of Congress (66 Stat.412 Pub. Law 293, 82nd Congress, HR 4467) to promote friendly and cooperative relations between the various State and Territorial Societies in the District of Columbia and to foster educational, cultural and civic activities in the District of Columbia and surrounding communities.

The deadline to apply is Saturday, May 30th at 11:59 EST. Please download the 2026 application packet on the Guam Society website - this is a fillable form.

The Society is offering six scholarships in 2026:

Brigida Lizama College Scholarship $1,500*
Brigida Lizama High School Scholarship $1,500*
College Student Scholarship $1,000**
College Student Scholarship $1,000**
High School Student Scholarship $1,000**
High School Student Scholarship $1,000**

*For applicants interested in the Brigida Lizama scholarships, please contact the Scholarship Committee Chairperson for information about the required 24 volunteer service hours for the application; reminder that applicants for the Brigida Lizama scholarships, must have been Guam Society members in 2025.

**Note that applicants for the other categories are encouraged to submit volunteer hours for Guam Society events, this is not a requirement but will strengthen an applicant's submission when reviewed by the selection panel. There is not a set number of volunteer hours for these categories - applicants may submit hours as served at Guam Society events they volunteer for.

Day 9 (Dec 8th) of the 2025 Guam Society Santa Marian Kamalen Novena - final novena and mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC; followed by a no host luncheon at Thai Station in Washington, DC. Approximately 50 attendees, including members of the Society, many of the hosts of the nightly novenas, were joined by Guam Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio. Much thanks and appreciation for Chairperson Rosanne Mantanona and her husband, Frank for their efforts this year and every year in coordinating this annual event. Biba Santa Marian Kamalen!

Attended by several Guam Society members, family and friends in person and via Zoom. This was the last residential novena - tomorrow wi be the final novena and mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.

Day 7 (Dec 6th) of the 2025 Guam Society Santa Marian Kamalen Novena; hosted by Roque and Marge Acfalle in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Marge was the techa, saying the novena in Chanorro. Attended by Guam Society members, family and friends in person and via Zoom. This novena was a milestone event as the first one held outside of the DC/MD/VA (DMV) metro area. Chairperson Rosanne Mantanona and Frank Mantanona made the 4-1/2 hour one way trip with Santa Marian Kamalen for the novena at the Acfalle's residence. Families traveled from Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and from the local Fayetteville area to attend the novena.

The Guam Society of America, Inc. has a time-honored tradition in having a Cherry Blossom Princess represent the oldest Guam Club in the United States during the Society’s annual events and during the upcoming 2026 Annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. in the Spring.

The 2026 Cherry Blossom Princess will also receive the $1,000 Angela Morgan Scholarship from the Guam Society to pursue her undergraduate studies.

Selection will also be made for a 2026 Junior Princess to represent the Society. Both princesses serve as ambassadors for the Society and represent our organization throughout the year.
