We are now less than a week out to celebrating our 15th anniversary at Atlas Performing Arts Center Carpathia had its first rehearsal in June, 2011 with eight people coming together, pushing a conference room to a corner, and only grew from there. We started representing Ukraine, Romania, and the Roma, and have added more countries and cultures since to a dozen. We’ve performed at numerous local festivals and events and also at two of the nations premier venues - The Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap. We’re proud to have also helped raise significant funding for humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

Carpathia Folk Dance Ensemble

Faster than boats down the Vistula and the Danube, and with a lot more boot stomping, the Carpathia Folk Dance Ensemble transports you though Central and Eastern Europe — or at least their movement traditions — with stops in the likes of Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria and Moldova, not to mention Roma neighborhoods. Known in recent years for its fundraising and awareness on behalf of Ukraine, the Washington ensemble celebrates its 15th anniversary with a performance at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. The festivities will surely feature the troupe’s trademark embroidered costumes, infectious music, and spins, lifts, squatting kicks and other zesty moves.
