Over the past six years, extreme hunger has surged and stayed stubbornly high. There has been progress, but it’s fragile, and nowhere near enough.

The reality is heartbreaking: 318 million people are living with dangerous levels of hunger today.

Climate shocks, conflict and economic hardship make it harder for families to get the food and nutrition they need. But we can make a difference. The World Food Programme (WFP) has pushed back hunger before, and they can do it again.

was created to shine a light on this crisis and remind us that a zero-hunger world is possible. Ending hunger is necessary, urgent and within our hands. 🫶

Millions of people around the world are facing extreme levels of hunger. Like Hana in Gaza, a mother of three who’s pregnant with her fourth. She was so hungry that she sought help from the World Food Programme to treat her dizziness.

Where’s the noise? Where is the outrage?

Every day, people around the world are doing everything they can to care for themselves and their loved ones — to build a better future — against impossible odds.
Hunger is the only thing holding them back.

We can’t stay silent any longer. Millions of people like Hana need us to speak up and start making some noise.

Helen, a beekeeper in Kenya, is building a sweeter future, one jar of honey at a time. 🍯

With training and modern beehives from the World Food Programme (WFP), Helen has turned beekeeping into a steady income, enabling her to send her children to school and buy food for her family.

Now she’s sharing what she’s learned with other women, so more families can grow and thrive.

“You can build your hive, have bees colonize it, harvest them, sell, and get some income. So I think the training is very good for the community, it can uplift them from poverty.”

🐝 WFP helps beekeepers establish sustainable honey production that uses little land, promotes environmental conservation and improves food security for both families and communities.

Happy World Bee Day from World Food Program USA 💛

Somalia’s multi-year drought is pushing 6 million people closer to life threatening hunger.

Pastoralist families in the southwest are most at risk and could face famine if rains keep failing, food prices keep rising and humanitarian funding continues to dwindle.

The World Food Programme can currently reach only 1 in 10 people who urgently need help. Without new funding, emergency food assistance could stop by July.

Manuella is only 17. She walked for four days to escape violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and she’s almost six months pregnant. She’s scared, exhausted and trying to earn a living by fetching water for others.

Her story is one of many in the DRC, where 26.5 million people face extreme levels of hunger and more than 1.5 million pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls are projected to be acutely malnourished.

In addition to emergency food aid, the World Food Programme provides specialized nutrition support for children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. But still … many families don’t get enough help.

Weak social safety nets and massive funding cuts to humanitarian aid leave millions of people without the support they need to feed themselves and rebuild their lives. 💔

When families face rising costs and unequal access to services, putting food on the table can be nearly impossible.

Strong social protection and early childhood education can reduce poverty and help prevent hunger. When families have steady income and support, they can buy and prepare nutritious food — and kids can grow, learn and thrive. 🪴

This , you can help families around the world get the nutrition they need. 📲 https://bit.ly/41vlknd

South Sudan is facing one of the highest levels of extreme hunger in the world today.

Between now and July, 7.8 million people are expected to suffer extreme hunger, and some may even face starvation.

And while families struggle to find food, more children are becoming dangerously malnourished. Right now, 2.2 million children under five are acutely malnourished, and 700,000 are expected to face SEVERE acute malnutrition, which can be life-threatening.

Conflict and funding shortfalls are cutting off access to life-saving care when it is needed most. 💔

For millions of mothers, hunger isn’t just about going without; it’s about putting their children first, no matter the cost.

They eat last. They eat least.
And still, they show up every day for their families.

This Mother’s Day, we honor their strength and the futures they’re fighting for. 💙

Parul is growing more than food.

A single mother in northern Bangladesh, she’s survived floods, raised her sons on a raft, and continues to do whatever it takes to build a future for her children.

Across the world, families like hers are doing the same — building a future with whatever is within reach.

But too many are still being pushed into hunger.

They are full of potential. Full of hope.
They just need food to reach it.

A new analysis projects that 1.24 million people in Lebanon could face extreme levels of hunger, with displaced and refugee communities hit hardest.

The decline in food security is being driven by the ongoing escalation in the Middle East. Displacement, rising prices and reduced aid are pushing more families into hunger.

Immediate and sustained humanitarian aid is needed to prevent this hunger crisis from worsening.

In Gaza, Malye is raising six children, doing anything she can to find food.

Now, through a World Food Programme (WFP) cash-for-work program, she earns an income by upcycling wheat flour bags into items used at distribution sites.

With income from this work, she can finally buy food and provide for her children.

In crisis and beyond, support for mothers helps families rebuild. ❤️
