What is Job Corps? Job Corps is our nation's most successful career preparation program for at-risk young Americans ages 16-24.

The mission of the National Job Corps Association is to unite the Job Corps community through activities and services that strengthen the program for the benefit of students, staff and employers. The 125 Job Corps Centers in all 50 states have helped nearly 3 million disadvantaged young Americans complete their high school education and transition into higher education, a gainful career or military service. Job Corps is able to succeed with a population that has been left behind by the traditional education system because Job Corps provides practical training tied to employers' real expectations. Job Corps' demand-driven model recognizes that young workers' success in today's labor market depend on four factors: Personal development, education, job skills and job readiness.

🌟 Graduate Spotlight | Emmanuel Sankoh

From career training to career growth, Woodland Job Corps graduate Emmanuel Sankoh is putting his skills to work and building a future he can be proud of!

After completing the Business Construction Technologies (BCT) program through HBI at Woodland Job Corps Center, Emmanuel entered the workforce as an electrical helper with through .

His hard work is already paying off! Emmanuel has increased his hourly wage from $17.60 to $20.43, with additional opportunities to earn overtime. He’s also purchased his first car and has set a goal of paying it off within two years.

Beyond technical skills, Emmanuel credits Job Corps with providing the preparation, mentorship, and foundation he needed to succeed. He continues to stay connected with his former BCT instructor and encourages current students to make the most of every opportunity.

💬 His advice? “Ask questions. Learn everything you can. Take advantage of the preparation available to you. Find a mentor now.”

Emmanuel's journey is a great example of how career training, determination, and continued mentorship can open doors to financial independence and long-term career opportunities.

🌟 Graduate Spotlight | Ashia Toilolo 🌟

When Ashia Toilolo arrived at Wind River Job Corps, she was looking for direction and a pathway toward a stable career. She found both—and discovered a career she hadn’t originally planned on pursuing.

Ashia initially came to Job Corps interested in Heavy Truck Driving, but after visiting the Heavy Equipment Operations program, something clicked. She changed direction, pursued Heavy Equipment Operations, earned her high school diploma, served as a Student Ambassador, and completed an impressive list of industry certifications and credentials.

After graduating in 2026, Ashia transitioned directly into the workforce through a job training match with Rio Tinto Kennecott Mine in Utah. Today, she is working full-time in the heavy equipment industry, earning $25.40 an hour and building a career with room to grow.

But for Ashia, Job Corps was about more than technical training. It was also about finding the people who encouraged her to keep moving forward.

| Christian Dunn 🎓

When Christian Dunn arrived at Flint Genesee Job Corps Center, he didn’t know exactly where the experience would take him. What he found was a foundation that helped him keep building toward goals he hadn’t even imagined yet.

Christian earned his GED, completed Office Administration career training, gained leadership experience through student government, and earned his driver’s license. Through Job Corps’ Advanced Career Training program, he was able to begin taking community college courses while still receiving the mentorship, stability, and support of Job Corps.

And he kept going.

Christian went on to transfer to a four-year university and earn his bachelor’s degree in Communications from Central Michigan University. Today, he’s continuing his education at CMU, pursuing a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration—with a goal of one day helping other students become leaders themselves.

“Job Corps was the foundation of my success. Take advantage of the resources and you can be successful. They provide all the tools. You just have to pick them up, take them, and use them—and you can become something great.”

Christian’s journey is a powerful reminder that Job Corps can be more than career training. It can be the first step toward discovering what’s possible.

🏆 Grand Champion! A winning combination of creativity, craftsmanship, and hands-on skills!

Congratulations to the Talking Leaves Job Corps Center HBI students and instructors for taking home the Grand Champion title at the 2026 Cherokee National Holiday Parade! 🎉

Students in the Building Construction Technology (BCT) and Electrical programs designed and built an incredible float featuring a working lighthouse, a mechanically rotating display with silhouettes of Native people and hardhat-wearing workers surrounding a ceremonial drum, and even a working water feature!

This award-winning creation showcases what happens when technical training, creativity, and teamwork come together. We couldn't be prouder of these talented students and their instructors!

🤝 Building strong partnerships for the future of Job Corps.

On August 27, Hawaii Job Corps Center welcomed representatives from the offices of U.S. Senator Brian Schatz and Congressman Ed Case for a firsthand look at the education, career training and opportunities Job Corps provides young people.

Joining from Senator Schatz’s office were Jesse Isleman, General Counsel, and Michael Dahilig, Senior Policy Counsel. From Congressman Case’s office, the center welcomed Kekoa Kaluhiwa, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Mc Kalya Mc Cullah, Fellow.

During their visit, the congressional staff toured the center, met with members of the Center’s Workforce Council and connected with the Job Corps community. And, of course, no visit would be complete without a taste of the talent being developed on center—a delicious lunch prepared by Hawaii Job Corps culinary students! 👏🍴

We are grateful to both congressional offices for pledging their continued support of Job Corps and its mission. Partnerships with leaders at the local, state and federal levels help ensure young people have access to the skills, training and opportunities they need to build successful careers and strengthen America’s workforce.

Thank you to Jesse, Michael, Kekoa and Mc Kalya for spending time with Hawaii Job Corps and for supporting the young people we serve.

A meaningful moment for students from Loring Job Corps Center this summer as they had the opportunity to meet and thank U.S. Senator Susan Collins for her continued support of Job Corps.

As Senator Collins approached the students, she shared her appreciation for the program and the young people working to build their futures, telling them, “I love Job Corps, and I am so proud of how each of you are making a positive difference in yourselves and the community.”

She also reaffirmed her commitment to sharing the important role Job Corps plays in training America’s skilled workforce.

Support from Senator Collins and congressional leaders across the country is critical to ensuring Job Corps can continue providing young people with the education, hands-on career training, and opportunities they need to succeed — while helping employers and communities build the skilled workforce of tomorrow.

🎓 Celebrating the Arecibo Job Corps Class of 2026!

On August 28, Arecibo Job Corps graduates crossed the stage at the Sixto Escobar Auditorium in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico—marking an important milestone and the beginning of their next chapter.

The celebration reached beyond the auditorium, with the Municipality of Arecibo and Island News sharing highlights from the ceremony across their social media platforms and helping shine a spotlight on these deserving graduates.

Every diploma represents dedication, perseverance and a young person prepared to take their skills into the workforce and their community.

Building skills. Strengthening communities. 🛠️

At Atterbury Job Corps Center, students in Building Construction Technology and Heavy Construction Equipment Operator trades are putting their training to work beyond the classroom.

Through a hands-on project at Johnson County Park, students installed split rail fencing throughout the park—helping improve safety and functionality while gaining valuable real-world experience along the way.

Projects like this are what Job Corps is all about: giving young people opportunities to develop in-demand trade skills while building teamwork, confidence and a sense of responsibility to the communities around them.

That’s career training with an impact. 💪

🎓 Celebrating the Los Angeles Job Corps Class of 2026!

On June 18, Los Angeles Job Corps celebrated its newest graduates as they marked an important milestone and prepared to take the next steps toward their futures.

The ceremony featured special keynote speaker and recording artist Ronnie Bell, who has been part of the music industry since 2001 and continues to perform for audiences across the country. Bell shared his personal journey and a powerful message of hope, perseverance, and believing in what’s possible with the graduating class.

Graduation represents so much more than completing a program. It represents the hard work, determination, skills, and confidence these young people have built along the way—and the new opportunities now ahead of them.

👏 Congratulations to the Los Angeles Job Corps graduates! We look forward to seeing where your training, talent, and determination take you next.
