Dear friends,

With your amazing support, we were able to help Shrivan go back to school in Turkey. Shrivan’s road back to school was difficult and we weren’t able to enroll him at the start of the school year. He didn’t have all required documents and not all Turkish schools were accepting Syrian refugees. However, the Turkish government announced an integration policy that required Syrian refugees to enroll in Turkish schools.

Shrivan, alone, went to multiple government offices across Istanbul. He gathered all of the required documents and enrolled himself in a school close to home. At first, things were difficult especially with language. But he quickly adjusted and started taking after school Turkish language lessons. He now has a group of friends and is working hard to pass all of his exams. He participated in a drawing contest and drew a beautiful version of The Starry Night by the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh.

Because of your support, Shrivan stopped working, and he returned to being a student. Attached are a few photos that he wanted to share with all of us. We are still collecting donations for Shrivan, to cover his school costs for the following two years – grades 11th and 12th.

Please continue to support him: https://www.generosity.com/education-fundraising/shrivan-s-education-fund

Thank you so much and happy holidays!

Americans have not collectively expressed great concern or reached deep in their pockets to provide desperately needed aid, nor have humanitarian agencies aggressively pursued funds from the public.

Millions of Syrians need urgent help. Why are Americans ignoring this crisis?
