The Kosciuszko Foundation, the Polish Library in Washington, D.C. , and the World Bank–IMF Polish Club cordially invite you to an evening of conversation and reflection with Michał Rutkowski, a distinguished expert in social policy, labor markets, and pension systems.

Join us for a discussion on international cooperation, labor markets, and social protection—and how societies can respond to the challenges of rapid economic and social change.

🇵🇱 Please note: The event will be conducted in Polish.

For more than 30 years, Michał Rutkowski has helped shape and implement policies and programs in social protection, employment, and pension systems around the world. During his career at the World Bank, he held several senior leadership positions, including Global Director of the Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice (2019–2023). He also oversaw relations with international organizations and served as Country Director for Russia and the World Bank’s Resident Representative in Moscow (2012–2015).

During this special event, he will share insights from his decades of experience at the World Bank and reflect on the challenges facing today’s economies and social policies in an era of profound transformation.

The Kosciuszko Foundation DC, in cooperation with The Generations After of Greater Washington D.C., are pleased to invite you to an evening with Patrycja Dołowy, author of Back Before You Wake.

Back Before You Wake tells the deeply moving stories of Jewish mothers, children, and caregivers during the Holocaust—and the impossible choices they faced in their struggle to survive.

Based on interviews with some of the last surviving child survivors, Dołowy’s book offers a powerful perspective on the Holocaust through motherhood, childhood, survival, memory, identity, and the bonds between biological and adoptive families.

🎤 Meet the Author: Patrycja Dołowy An artist, writer, and journalist based in Warsaw, Dołowy has devoted much of her work to exploring memory, identity, and the stories of those whose experiences must not be forgotten.

🎶 1926–2026: Between Folk Magic and Sonorism 🎶

Join us in Washington, DC for a special evening of Polish music spanning a century of experimentation, tradition, ritual, and sound as part of the KF Next-Gen event series.

The program brings together Polish composers from two moments a century apart. Music by Karol Szymanowski, Ludomir Różycki, and Aleksander Tansman reflects the vibrant experimentation of the 1920s, with its fascination with folk traditions, ritual, and new musical languages.

We then turn to the 2020s with works by composer and cellist Aleksandra Woźniak—Dimensions of Dialogue, gli altri, Olbios, and ecce—which transform the string quartet into a laboratory for exploring timbre, gesture, memory, and the contemplative dimensions of sound.
