“Richard Gere in Conversation” is making its journey across the globe! Launched on Friday, ICT’s new video series gives a glimpse into the lives of Tibetan spiritual leaders, scholars, public servants, and longtime associates of His Holiness.

Today ICT had the pleasure of joining Sikyong Penpa Tsering at Sikyong Hall in Dharamsala for a screening of Episode 1: Dr. Gyal Lo.

In schools across Tibet, students are forced to learn the Chinese Communist Party's propaganda on Tibet's history. Shortly after the start of the new school year, the Chinese authorities held the so-called "National Defense Education Day," where the motto was "Remembering the dark history, honoring the great changes, and striving to become people of the new era."

Beijing alone is determining what parts of 's history students learn, systematically erasing 's history of occupation and repression in Tibet and attempting to militarize Tibetan children.

19 years ago today the United States awarded His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama the Congressional Gold Medal! Recognized for his efforts in promoting peace, compassion and non-violence, the Congressional Gold Medal is the highest civilian honor bestowed by the U.S. Congress.

To commemorate the anniversary of this historic moment, we launched our new video series Richard Gere in Conversation that offers an intimate portrait of His Holiness through rare conversations with Tibetan spiritual leaders, public servants, and close aides who have dedicated their lives to serving His Holiness and the Tibetan people.

Episode 1 of "Richard Gere In Conversation" premieres THIS FRIDAY, OCT. 16 @ 11AM EST! The series begins with Dr. Gyal lo, Tibetan education sociologist and Tibet Specialist at the Tibet Action Institute. From village life and Chinese occupation to life in exile, Dr. Gyal Lo discusses his life as a tireless advocate, challenging Chinese narratives with academic rigor and the powerful memory of his mother’s oral history.

Congratulations Amala! This morning, in recognition of her lifelong dedication to the welfare and care of Tibetan children, Kasur Jetsun Pema was awarded the Christmas Humphreys Award by the Buddhist Society of Britain.

Most famously known as the former leader of the Tibetan Children’s Village in Dharamsala, for over 60 years Jetsun Pema la has devoted her life to the support and education of children in exile. The award was presented at a formal ceremony held at Hermann Gmeiner Hall, Upper TCV, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.
