Happy Haitian Flag Day! ❤️💙

Today's celebration marks 223 years since the creation of the Haitian flag, a powerful symbol of unity, freedom, and resilience 🇭🇹

On May 18, 1803, during the fight for independence, the blue and red flag was created as a representation of unity among the Haitian people and the vision of a free nation. Since then, it has stood as a symbol of strength, pride, and perseverance.

At KCH, we honor not only the flag, but the history, culture, and spirit of the Haitian people that it represents as we continue to build and expand opportunities!

Today KCH led a presentation session on the importance and significance of the flag for our Haitian community.

We hope you continue to celebrate, honor, learn, and give back!

In honor of International Family Day, we celebrate the KCH community, a space where young people are supported, uplifted, and reminded that they are never alone. 💛

At Kids Connection Haiti, family extends beyond biology. It is built through care, mentorship, shared experiences, and a commitment to helping one another grow.
We are grateful for every student, volunteer, staff member, and supporter who helps make KCH feel like a place of belonging and hope.

This week in Haitian news, Haiti continued to face ongoing security challenges, political developments, and international coordination efforts.

Recent events included gang attacks in Kenscoff and Artibonite, continued operations by the PNH and international partners, and new developments surrounding Haiti’s revised electoral decree. International support efforts also expanded, with additional security personnel and resources arriving to assist in combating gang violence and strengthening stability.

At the same time, conversations around elections, financial modernization, and public safety continue to shape the country’s future during a difficult and complex period.

This Haitian proverb reminds us of the power of community, support, and working together. No challenge feels as heavy when people come together with compassion and care.

Happy Haitian Heritage Month! 🇭🇹

Haitian Heritage Month began in Boston in 1998, sparked by a community-led effort including Tele Kreyòl. What started locally has grown into a nationwide celebration of Haitian history, culture, and pride.

Today, we honor the resilience, creativity, and strength of the Haitian people - both in Haiti and across the diaspora.

At Kids Connection Haiti, we believe the best way to celebrate that legacy is by investing in Haiti’s next generation.

Today, May 1st, we honor the men who work the land; fathers, providers, and cultivators whose strength feeds a nation. Their hands grow more than crops: they grow resilience, dignity, and hope. Ayiti stands on their shoulders.

This week in Haitian news:

Key developments unfolded across Haiti, including progress in election planning, continued security operations, and emerging fuel shortages.

The CEP submitted a revised electoral framework and is working toward an updated timeline, while the PNH successfully repelled an attack in Seguin, maintaining stability in the area. International support efforts also continue, with additional forces announced to assist in addressing ongoing security challenges.

At the same time, fuel shortages are beginning to impact communities, as the government enforces price regulations and works to stabilize supply.

Meet Dave, a longtime KCH volunteer whose journey began in Haiti in 2010:

“In the aftermath of the earthquake, I witnessed both the challenges and the incredible resilience of the Haitian people. What I thought would be a small commitment quickly became something much deeper.

Over the years, I’ve seen how KCH empowers young adults to pursue education, build independence, and uplift their communities. That impact continues to grow with every student we support.

What inspires me most is the people, the students, the staff, and the communities who show strength, generosity, and perseverance every day.”
