We've reviewed 6 proposals to develop this long-vacant piece of city-owned land at 7th & R and decided to endorse the proposal to build a 9-story building with a Marriott hotel, two floors of affordable housing, and a market, deli & café on the ground floor. We also propose to ask the developer to improve the dilapidated park at 6th, R & Rhode Island—instead of squeezing a community playground into the lot half the size of this park on the eastern edge of Parcel 42. We'd welcome your comments on our draft letter!

Shaw’s Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC2C) will vote on Wednesday to make a formal recommendation on what the city should do with Parcel 42, the vacant lot at Rhode Island, 7th & R. We recommend a hotel! What do YOU think?

Right across from the Wonderbread factory is a beautiful modern building by Suzane Reatig, who has designed a number of acclaimed modern buildings in Shaw. The ground floor retail space has sat vacant for years. Now you can submit your own ideas for possible uses on the Popularise website, or vote or comment other ideas! Please spread the word about this extraordinary space to your friends by re-sharing this post!

Across the street from the new Progression Place development, the Wonder Bread buildling and the Shaw/Howard University Metro, 626 S Street is in the midst of the 7th Street corridor retail hub, but with a scaled-down neighborhood feel. The street level storefront is housed in a mixed-use building w...

Plans for the dilapidated Wonderbread Factory are moving along. Last night at the ANC 1B Design Review Committee we heard representative from Douglas Development Corporation share their latest plans for the Wonderbread Factory at 621 S St NW.

A query from one of our neighbors: "We are putting up a brick wall in our backyard and want to use brick that are around the same age of our neighborhood's contruction. If anybody has any old bricks that they would like me to take off of their hands please let me know." We couldn't be more delighted our internal mailing list is used for such questions, but wanted to see if anyone on Facebook might be to help!

Logan Circle is pushing for a subzone parking to limit parking on one side of each block to residents only. Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2C (ANC2C) just approved our proposal for a similar plan for northern Shaw to address the increased parking crunch sure to be caused by the Howard Theatre's opening April 12. (Subject to ANC1B approval, LeDroit Park would get a subzone, too). Read the plan here: http://goo.gl/YLJm5

Photo by Dave Adams Logan Circle residents embraced, with a few questions, a pilot program being proposed by the office of Councilmember Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) that would apply more restrictive parking rules to the neighborhood. At a meeting Wednesday night of advisory neighborhood commission 2F, She...
