We share the work of over 60 organizations working in Madagascar with Malagasy communities to protect Madagascar’s wildlife. The Lemur Conservation Network began as a project of the Madagascar Section of the IUCN SSC Primate Specialist Group in 2015 and became an independent USA-registered nonprofit organization in 2021. What are you looking at?!

Wooly lemurs large eyes help them see at night. But even in their active period in the evenings, they don't go far. They eat a diet mostly of leaves which doesn't give them enough energy to really move it!

Scientists have now identified 50 priority sites for protection, giving conservationists a concrete roadmap to safeguard life that has never even been formally described. The work to understand and protect this island's extraordinary biodiversity is only getting started.

Conservation biologist Dimby Raharinjanahary spent years walking through Madagascar’s forests, counting some of the island’s most visible species, such as lemurs and birds. Raharinjanahary was head of monitoring and research for the country’s national parks service from 2012 to 2018, when moni...
