The Department of Justice (DOJ) opened a civil rights investigation into the University of California at Berkeley (UCB) after an intense protest broke out on campus during a Turning Point USA event that resulted in arrests. Federal officials alleged that the disruption was caused by Antifa, a loosely organized, leftist movement that says it opposes far-right and fascist groups.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials agreed to release a British Muslim political commentator who was detained at San Francisco International Airport during a speaking tour in the United States. Federal officials said they detained him for allegedly supporting terrorism. Critics say he was unlawfully held for criticizing Israel.
