Ten years ago, IEEE MOVE Global started with a single truck and an idea: get communications and power to people in the middle of a disaster, fast.

A decade later, MOVE has assisted more than 1,000,000 survivors and first responders, run 43 deployments across three global command centers, and trained over 1,000 volunteers along the way.

We're celebrating that milestone at Sections Congress, and you're invited.

“IEEE has never done something like this before, why start now?”

That was one of the biggest questions facing the team when IEEE MOVE was first conceptualized. Building a specialized emergency relief vehicle from scratch was uncharted territory for IEEE.

Hear from MOVE USA leadership team member Dave Green on how the team overcame initial challenges in the early days—recounting the hurdles, building the first truck, and figuring out how MOVE would fit into the broader emergency management system.

A special tribute to our donors: none of this would exist without our initial donors and sponsors. Their support and generosity allowed us to transform an idea into reality, laying the groundwork for 10 years of disaster response and STEM outreach.

📢 MOVE-3 DEPLOYMENT UPDATE 📢

On Wednesday evening, July 15, 2026, our MOVE-3 team was deployed by the American Red Cross to support an evacuation shelter for those affected by the Thorn Fire, near the Mexican border.

Our crew, Bill Torre (Driver) and Steve Kurtzman, are on-site providing essential power and communication support to the shelter operations.

Please join us in wishing them and all first responders on the ground a safe and effective deployment.
