🆕 Food is always close by: Why availability alone doesn’t explain adolescent diets in Viet Nam

Diets are not shaped by individual choices alone. Before anyone decides what to eat, the food environment around them determines what is sold, how close it is, and how much it costs. A common assumption is that food environments frequently visited by adolescents such as those around schools pose particular nutrition risks, pushing them towards unhealthy options. But is this the case for adolescents in Viet Nam?

🆕 on our : El Niño is coming and the time for Malawi to prepare is running short

A strong El Niño has developed in the Pacific Ocean, raising the risk of below-normal rainfall and prolonged dry spells during Malawi’s coming agricultural season (November 2026 – March 2027), especially in the southern parts of the country. While no forecast is ever certain, history suggests that Malawi should take the threat seriously.

Generative AI can deepen power imbalances. Farmers see simple tools, but providers often control the data, infrastructure, and knowledge generated behind the scenes.

If digital agriculture is to remain worthy of farmers’ trust, governance must give farming communities meaningful influence over how these systems are designed, what they optimize, and how the value they generate is distributed.
