Mexico Monarch Country Tour 2026
February 19 - 24, 2026
Monarch expert, William Dent, is leading his 12th tour of Mexico’s Monarch Country to see the millions of Monarch butterflies that gather each year at ‘El Rosario’, the largest of the Monarch overwintering sanctuaries. The trip (February 19 - 24, 2026) begins in Mexico City with a guided tour of the Zócalo and historic center. The next day, the group travels an hour north to the renowned Teotihuacan archaeological site to see the Pyramid of the Sun, followed by a tour of the world-famous National Museum of Anthropology, which showcases Mexico's remarkable pre-Hispanic civilizations.
On Days 3 and 4, the group is in Monarch Country and makes its way up to the oyamel forests, where the only sound is the flutter of butterfly wings as multitudes of Monarchs glide overhead. This is a unique connection with the magic of the Monarch’s annual 2,500-mile migration back to where their great-grandparents spent the previous winter. The trip is a once-in-a-lifetime experience of amazing nature and delicious Mexican food!
