The Solar Impulse Foundation and the Winds of Hope Foundation are seeking breakthrough solutions that reduce indoor air pollution, accelerate transitions to clean energy, and make efficient cooking accessible in underserved communities.

They're looking for solutions that are:
→ Proven or emerging with real market traction
→ Measurably better for health and the environment
→ Scalable to new users, markets and geographies
→ Economically viable and address affordability barriers

Selected innovators gain access to established sector networks, catalytic funding support, international visibility including at COP31 and 32, and personalized guidance toward the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label.

G20 presidencies change every year, yet clean cooking has held its place on the agenda.

The United States is now the third consecutive G20 presidency to make clean cooking a priority, following Brazil in 2024 and South Africa in 2025. Taken together, the three presidencies point in one direction. Brazil set out the framework, South Africa turned it into an investment agenda, and the United States is reinforcing national ownership, multiple energy pathways, and the systems needed for delivery.

The ingredients for success are in place. The task ahead is to turn them into lasting access for the nearly 2 billion people still waiting.

Clean cooking is an issue we can solve.

This was one of the major takeaways from last week's high-level event on clean cooking in New York, the first such event held during the UN General Assembly.

And it set the stage for continued momentum on clean cooking at global platforms like COP31 Türkiye, the G20, and next year's Second Summit on Clean Cooking in Africa (Nairobi, Jan 27-28) where, as H.E. President Willian Ruto of Kenya said, "Let each one of us come prepared to point to one concrete step—a policy approved, a procurement launched, financing deployed, an investment committed, or a project advanced.”

🔥 High-performing biomass stoves can immediately cut down on fuel costs.
🌽 Biogas systems provide both clean cooking gas and agricultural fertilizer.
🌿 Bioethanol can scale where supply chains and feedstocks align.
⛽ LPG is gaining traction in many urban markets, supported by mobile money systems.
⚡ Electric cooking is increasingly accessible as grids strengthen and appliance costs fall.
