For more than 40 years, Jack measured his life in miles, but pleural mesothelioma took him off of his bike.

Cycling gave him a reason to keep moving even when progress didn't always look like progress, but he persevered.

September 26th is Mesothelioma Awareness Day and one of the easiest ways to participate is to obtain a state or local proclamation.

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is proud to announce $850,000 in research funding.

This record commitment includes:
🔬 Three $250,000 investigator grants supporting innovative mesothelioma research.
🏥 A $100,000 grant to expand the groundbreaking ICARuS II clinical trial, helping bring this important study to patients beyond New York City.

Just one year ago, the Foundation awarded $300,000 in research grants. This year's unprecedented investment reflects what's possible when patients, families, researchers, physicians, donors, advocates, and partners unite behind a common mission.

For a rare disease like mesothelioma, research funding is essential. Every grant supports new discoveries, accelerates better treatments, and brings us closer to a future where mesothelioma no longer limits lives.

🚨 Your voice is needed to help protect mesothelioma research.

A proposed federal rule from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) could change how federally funded scientific research is awarded and managed.

For the mesothelioma community, the stakes are high. As a rare disease, mesothelioma research depends on:
🔹 Independent scientific peer review to award research grants.
🔹 Stable funding for ongoing clinical trials and studies.
🔹 International collaboration to bring together enough patients and researchers to advance new treatments.

This proposal could jeopardize all three.

Now is the time to speak up.

The OMB is accepting public comments, and we encourage patients, caregivers, family members, researchers, clinicians, and advocates to make their voices heard. Tell decision-makers that rare disease research must continue to be guided by science, protected from disruption, and supported through global collaboration.
