A Proud Moment on Capitol Hill

In recognition of Turkish National Youth and Sports Day, Congressman Joe Wilson presented a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, honoring this meaningful day and the civic engagement of Turkish-American youth.

As the Turkish American National Steering Committee — TASC, the largest Turkish-American umbrella organization in the United States, we are proud to bring our youth to the heart of American democracy and ensure their voices are heard at the highest levels.

During Youth Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill, Turkish-American students from across the country met with congressional offices, participated in meaningful discussions, and represented the strength, vision, and future of our community.

This recognition is not only an honor for Turkish National Youth and Sports Day, but also a powerful reminder that our young leaders have an important role in shaping the future of Turkish-American civic engagement and U.S.-Türkiye relations.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Congressman Joe Wilson for this special recognition and to all Members of Congress and congressional staff who welcomed our students on Capitol Hill.

Türk-Amerikan gençleri Washington, DC’de bir araya geliyor.

Program kapsamında katılımcılar, Capitol Hill’de Kongre üyeleri ve senatörlerle doğrudan temas kurarak görüş ve önerilerini paylaşma ve Türk-Amerikan toplumunu temsil etme imkânı bulacaktır. Ayrıca farklı şehirlerden katılımcılarla tanışma ve bağlantı kurma fırsatı sunacaktır.

Brings together Turkish-American youth in Washington, DC.

As part of the program, participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with members of Congress and senators on Capitol Hill, share their views and recommendations, and represent the Turkish-American community. They will also have the chance to meet participants from different cities and build meaningful connections.

Against the so-called Armenian genocide claims, we stood united in Times Square. We respectfully commemorate the defenseless and innocent Turks who were brutally massacred by Armenians during the events of 1915.

On April 26, we came together as one in Times Square. With strong participation, we gathered to protest the so-called Armenian genocide claims and Zohran Mamdani’s stance on the issue. We stood shoulder to shoulder and raised our voices despite efforts to silence us.
This was not just a protest; it was a stand for our history, our identity, and the truth. We were united, determined, and visible.
Even the documents found in the state archives in Yerevan serve as proof of the groundlessness of these allegations and how historical truths have been distorted. We gathered here today to once again cry out to the world how the defenseless Turkish civilian population was systematically massacred and the great atrocities our nation suffered during the period of relocation and isolation.

Turkish American Steering Committee (TASC) olarak düzenlediğimiz program kapsamında, Maarif USA öğrencileri 23 Nisan Ulusal Egemenlik ve Çocuk Bayramı dolayısıyla Washington, D.C.’de ağırlandı. Program çerçevesinde gerçekleştirilen ziyaretlerde, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Temsilciler Meclisi Üyesi Joe Wilson, koltuğunu temsili olarak bir öğrenciye devretti. 23 Nisan’ın anlam ve önemine uygun olarak gerçekleştirilen bu sembolik uygulamada, çocuklar ve seçilmiş yetkililer rol değiştirerek liderlik ve temsil kavramlarını deneyimleme fırsatı buldu.

Washington DC’de, TBMM Dışişleri Komisyonu Başkanı ve Ankara Milletvekili Doç. Dr. Fuat Oktay başkanlığındaki Komisyon üyeleri onuruna düzenlenen toplum buluşmasına TASC adına katılım sağladık.

Türkiye–ABD ilişkileri ile diasporamıza ilişkin konuların ele alındığı bu kıymetli programa ev sahipliği yapan Türkiye’nin Washington Büyükelçisi Sayın Sedat Önal’a nazik misafirperverliği ve bu anlamlı buluşma için teşekkür ederiz.

TASC olarak Türk-Amerikan toplumunun güçlenmesi, Türkiye–ABD ilişkilerinin daha da ileri taşınması ve diasporamızın etkin temsilinin sağlanması için çalışmalarımıza kararlılıkla devam edeceğiz.
