Bring your cans in from Ash Wednesday through Sunday, February 22! GGCFD is supporting the Annual Archdiocesan Lenten Food Drive to benefit the John S. Mulholland Family Foundation and the nine parish food pantries they support in Washington’s poorest neighborhoods.

Food insecurity continues to be a major problem in our city. With the numbers of families visiting us increasing and the continued high cost of groceries, your help is especially needed this year.

Please bring your donation of non-perishable food to Blessed Sacrament beginning Ash Wednesday through the weekend of February 21 and 22.

Thanks to everyone for making the 38th Greg Gannon Canned Food Drive a tremendous success this year. We couldn’t have done it without all the volunteers, families and communities doing their part to collect 161,520 cans this year. BSS Canners: Join us tomorrow morning in the BSS auditorium to kick off the 38th Annual GGCFD!

8 am: donuts, coffee, hot chocolate and cheer
8:30 am: welcome, gathering, prayer and instructions

And the winner of the Battle of the Beltway is.... Holy Redeemer! This year was one of the closest races ever, with HR collecting 20,940 cans and BSS collecting 19,767 cans - a combined 40,707 cans! 🥫

Both HR and BSS continue to elevate this competition. Last year, the schools collected a combined 26,299 cans. 2025’s combined total is more than a 50% increase from 2024! We are so grateful to both BSS and HR for their energy, enthusiasm and dedication to ending hunger in our community.
