Normalize letting children having bad days! As long as they know that in the end it will get better & that their feelings are understandable. We as parents and caregivers have bad days, so why can’t they?

“When children pretend, they’re using their imaginations to move beyond the bounds of reality. A stick can be a magic wand. A sock can be a puppet. A small child can be a superhero.” – Fred Rogers

Today at the park we pretended that we were at an amusement park! Many students wish COVID can be cured soon so they can actually go amusement and water parks!

Pellets are a record of what owls have eaten, and scientists can study them to learn more about the owl and the ecosystems in which they live.

When kids dissect owl pellets, they can see and identify the tiny bones from that owl’s meal, can learn about the owl’s diet!

The mentees had so much fun this week with this STEM project and trying to identify what kind of animals the owls were eating!

On the last week of February, M.O.M.I.E.S mentors led a day full of activities focused on black culture and learning about HBCU colleges. The mentors and mentees took a tour the illustrious Howard University, and the students had so many questions.

Learning about HBCUS and their significance in our community help students develop a strong sense of identity, and promote student engagement and success by incorporating African American cultural elements in the community.
