We mourn alongside the Montana Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, and the family and friends of Troy Eades. Our hearts are with all who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing and his legacy endure. ๐Ÿ’™

This week, our Law Enforcement Torch Run family is mourning the loss of a true Guardian of the Flame.

Troy Eades was more than a supporter of our missionโ€”he was one of its champions. Through his unwavering commitment to Special Olympics Montana, he helped shine the light of inclusion, dignity, and acceptance throughout his community and far beyond.

His servant's heart, generous spirit, and steadfast dedication touched countless athletes, officers, volunteers, and friends. His legacy will live on in every Flame carried forward and every life changed through this movement.

Thank you, Troy, for all you gave to our athletes, our communities, and the Law Enforcement Torch Run family. You will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever a part of the Flame you helped carry.

The Final Leg Team started their morning off in Hibbing, Minnesota, before traveling to Brainerd, Minnesota, with one more stop this evening in Alexandria.

This group of law enforcement volunteers is fueled and motivated by their six Special Olympics athlete teammates as they carry the Flame of Hope on its way to the Special Olympics USA Games.

Yesterday, the two routes of the Special Olympics USA Games Final Leg reunited at MSP Airport, bringing together the Flame of Hope that began its journey in Chicago after being lit from the Eternal Flame outside Soldier Field.

After thousands of miles, countless communities, and unforgettable moments across America, the flame is once again united as it continues its journey across Minnesota.

Today, the remaining members of the Final Leg team arrive to join the run as we count down to the opening of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games this Saturday at Huntington Bank Stadium.
