AHI’s 2026 Summer Interns Engage on Key Policy Issues

Four college students and recent graduates brought fresh perspectives, strong research skills, and a deep interest in U.S.-Greece-Cyprus relations to the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) this summer. Bram Rawlings, Nicholas Contos, Noe Kourtzidis, and Spyridon Kass contributed to AHI’s research and programs while gaining first-hand experience with the people, institutions, and policy issues shaping Washington’s approach to the Eastern Mediterranean.

“AHI is fortunate to have talented interns who bring new perspectives, energy, and a keen interest in U.S.-Greece-Cyprus relations,” said AHI President Nick Larigakis. “Our 2026 summer interns made meaningful contributions to our research and programs while gaining valuable insight into how foreign policy and advocacy work in Washington. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to following their academic and professional journeys.”

Each intern brought a distinct academic background and area of interest to AHI, contributing to research and projects across a range of U.S.-Greece-Cyprus relations, and Eastern Mediterranean issues.

Η Σκόπελος τίμησε τον Πρόεδρο του AHI, Νικόλαο Λαρυγγάκη, σε μια βραδιά γεμάτη συγκίνηση

Σε κλίμα βαθιάς συγκίνησης, εθνικής υπερηφάνειας και ιδιαίτερης λαμπρότητας πραγματοποιήθηκε χθες Πέμπτη, 13 Αυγούστου 2026, στον κινηματοθέατρο «ΟΡΦΕΑΣ», η τιμητική εκδήλωση αφιερωμένη στον Πρόεδρο και Διευθύνοντα Σύμβουλο του Hellenic Institute (AHI), κ. Νικόλαο Λαρυγγάκη.
Η εκδήλωση αποτέλεσε ελάχιστο φόρο τιμής σε μια εξέχουσα προσωπικότητα του Ελληνισμού της Διασποράς, η οποία εργάζεται αδιάκοπα για την προάσπιση των εθνικών μας συμφερόντων, την ενίσχυση των ελληνοαμερικανικών σχέσεων και τη διατήρηση των δεσμών της Ομογένειας με την πατρίδα.

AHI Marks 52nd Anniversary of Invasion and Occupation of the Republic of Cyprus

As the anniversary of Türkiye’s illegal invasion and occupation of the Republic of Cyprus enters its 52nd year, the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) remembers this grave violation of international law and will continue to fight for reunification with renewed resolve. For generations, the Republic of Cyprus and its people have endured an illegal occupation by over 40,000 Turkish troops, along with massive violations of both human rights and fundamental freedoms. More than a half century of illegal occupation of a European Union member and U.S. partner by Türkiye, a NATO ally, is unacceptable. The United States must take further steps to bring an end to this injustice and hold Türkiye responsible for its actions.

AHIF 2026 Cyprus & Greece Foreign Study Program: Strengthening the Connection of the Cypriot Diaspora with Cyprus

The Service of Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was pleased to welcome and accompany the participants of the American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF) 2026 Cyprus & Greece Foreign Study Program during their educational visit to Cyprus on the 25th of June to the 1st of July.

The delegation, comprising university students from across the United States with Cypriot and Greek heritage, participated in AHIF’s annual educational programme under the leadership of AHI President and Executive Director Mr. Nick Larigakis.

Throughout their visit to Cyprus, the participants had the opportunity to engage with key state institutions, officials and representatives, gaining a deeper understanding of the island’s history, humanitarian issues, democratic institutions, foreign policy priorities, security environment and cultural heritage.

Πρόγραμμα AHIF 2026 Cyprus & Greece Foreign Study Program: Ενισχύοντας τη σύνδεση της κυπριακής διασποράς με την Κύπρο

Η Υπηρεσία Αποδήμων και Επαναπατρισθέντων του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών είχε τη χαρά να υποδεχθεί και να συνοδεύσει τους συμμετέχοντες του εκπαιδευτικού προγράμματος του American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF) 2026 Cyprus & Greece Foreign Study Program κατά τη διάρκεια της εκπαιδευτικής τους επίσκεψης στην Κύπρο 25 Ιουνίου με 1 Ιουλίου.

Η αντιπροσωπεία, αποτελούμενη από φοιτητές πανεπιστημίων από διάφορες πολιτείες των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών με κυπριακή και ελληνική καταγωγή, συμμετείχε στο ετήσιο εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα του AHIF υπό την ηγεσία του Προέδρου και Εκτελεστικού Διευθυντή του AHI, κ. Nick Larigakis.

The 18th annual AHIF College Student Foreign Policy Trip came to a close with a special farewell dinner celebrating three incredible weeks of learning, leadership, and friendship.

One of the evening's highlights was hearing from each student as they reflected on what they gained from the program. From new perspectives on U.S.-Greece-Cyprus relations and the Eastern Mediterranean to lifelong friendships and unforgettable experiences, their remarks underscored the lasting impact of the trip and the importance of investing in the next generation of leaders.

AHIF extends its sincere gratitude to this outstanding group of students for their enthusiasm, professionalism, curiosity, and commitment throughout the program. It has been a privilege to travel alongside you, and we look forward to seeing the many ways you will continue to strengthen the bonds between the United States, Greece, and Cyprus in the years ahead.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our generous supporters, hosts, speakers, and partners whose steadfast support and hospitality made this year's program possible. Looking back at the final day of the 2026 AHIF College Student Foreign Policy Trip. Last Friday was highlighted by a meeting at the Presidential Mansion with President Konstantinos Tasoulas of the Hellenic Republic. Students had the distinct honor of meeting the President and discussing the enduring friendship between Greece and the United States, as well as the importance of fostering the next generation of leaders.

The day began with a special breakfast briefing with former U.S. Ambassador to Greece Thomas Miller. The delegation also met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Loverdos for a discussion focusing on Greece's relations with the diaspora community and toured the Presidential Guard (Evzones) Barracks, where students learned about the history, traditions, and symbolism of one of Greece's most recognizable institutions. Students concluded the day's program with a briefing from National Security Advisor Dr. Thanos Dokos, who shared his perspectives on Greece's role in the Eastern Mediterranean and the broader geopolitical challenges facing the region.
