Accender Africa

Accender Africa Corruption and poor governance is a common feature of African countries. Accender Africa promotes good governance and transparency.

In Nigeria, as in many countries in Africa, bureaucratic red tape and laws protecting the secrecy of government documents make it difficult for citizens to access records on public spending projects on infrastructure and development. Accender Africa aims to use social media to increase public access to such records.

Transparency is a critical element in any viable anti-corruption effort. In the face of public scrutiny, corruption withers. Unfortunately, we have faced onerous times in our effort to obtain, verify, analyze, curate and publish government expenditure in Nigeria. The core challenges are access/availability of data and accuracy of fiscal reports. After a hiatus to help improve Nigeria's competitiveness, we are reigniting our efforts and shall continue to relentlessly strive for increased transparency in government expenditure and eliciting appropriate civic actions that stem the corrosive effect of corrupt governance.
