It's National School Bus Safety Week and OLI recognizes the bus drivers who move students every day. Remember to stop, eliminate distractions and look both ways before crossing railroad tracks. It’s . New drivers have a lot to remember. Talk to the teen drivers in your life about safety around tracks and trains. Not every crossing has gates or lights, so always expect a train at any time from either direction. It is Pedestrian Safety Month. Never use railroad tracks as a shortcut, walking on or close to tracks is dangerous and illegal.

Be prepared for rail crossings, especially when harvest runs late into the night. Cross only at designated crossings that fit your equipment and check your load before you get there. For more information visit oli.org/harvest-season.

On a transit platform, stay behind the yellow line or raised edge. Wait for your train to completely stop before you approach.

Every crossing has a Blue and White Emergency Notification System sign. Know the sign. Save a life. If a vehicle is ever stuck on the tracks, call the number on the Blue and White Emergency Notification System sign. No sign? Call 911.
