Howard University School of Divinity - HUSD GayStraight Alliance

The HUSD Gay/ Straight Alliance was founded February 20, 2013 at Howard
University School of Divinity. The original members are Melissa McQueen, Dyan Abena McCray- Peters, John Greene, Jennifer Nash, James Zeigler, Kinwanna McGrigg, Donsha Watkins, Rhonda Rhea, Kyra Brown, Marion Gibbs, Terrence Benn, Venita George, Kathleen Wiggins, and Terence Mayo. We are proud that
this will be the first time

Howard School of Divinity will have an organization of the
type, one that champions the cause of diversity and inclusivity. We are excited to
foster a community of inclusivity that truly adheres to the mission statement of Howard School of Divinity, which says, “[HUSD] educates and forms global academic and religious leaders to serve the Church and society and to celebrate the religious and cultural heritage of African-Americans, the African Diaspora, and Africa with a passion for justice and freedom, and a relentless search for truth". Our Vision:

To work to improve school climate for all students, regardless of
sexual orientation or gender identity/expression and raise awareness of
anti- LGBTQQIAAP (Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Q***r,
Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Allies and Pansexual) harassment in
school and in society, draw attention to gender role construction and
gender inequity, confront issues such as sexism, heterosexism, and
homophobia.
