Great food, great people, and an even greater purpose!

Last night, our CJJ Executive Board had the pleasure of coming together for dinner at Café Momentum Pittsburgh, and what a wonderful experience!

Not only did we enjoy delicious food and great company, but we also had the opportunity to support an organization doing meaningful work to create opportunities for justice-involved young people.

Café Momentum is a powerful reminder of what happens when we invest in young people, recognize their potential, and provide pathways for them to learn, grow, and thrive.

A huge THANK YOU to Café Momentum Pittsburgh for hosting our Executive Board and for the incredible work you do every day!

Good food. Good people. Great cause. That’s what it’s all about!

Upcoming Webinar:
Your Mind Matters: Start With a Free Mental Health Check-Up

Your mental health matters—and understanding how you’re doing can be an important first step. 💚

In recognition of Youth Justice Action Month (YJAM) 2026 and our Health, Hope, and Healing week, join the Coalition for Juvenile Justice and the Million Minds Project for a conversation about mental health, early awareness, and making support more accessible.

Participants will learn about a free, private mental health check-up, powered by Clinicom, that provides a clearer picture of your mental well-being and allows you to decide what comes next.

No cost. No pressure. Just a chance to check in with YOU.

Join us as we remind young people and communities everywhere: Your mind matters. Your well-being matters. YOU matter.

Young people aren't waiting for change. They're leading it.

During Week 2 of Youth Justice Action Month, we're celebrating Youth Leading the Movement.

Building a future where youth thrive requires more than asking young people for their opinions. It means creating meaningful opportunities for youth to influence decisions, develop solutions, lead initiatives, and hold systems accountable. Young people know what their communities need.

It's time to make sure they have the space, resources, and power to lead.

Honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

Today, we recognize and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples and Native Nations across the country.

As we continue recognizing Youth Justice Action Month (YJAM), we also acknowledge the importance of addressing the unique challenges Indigenous youth face within the juvenile justice system, including disparities in system involvement and access to culturally responsive services and resources.

Indigenous young people deserve to grow up connected to their cultures, communities, and traditions, with opportunities to lead, thrive, and shape their own futures.

At the Coalition for Juvenile Justice (CJJ), we recognize the importance of uplifting Indigenous voices, respecting Tribal sovereignty, and supporting community-driven approaches that center healing, cultural identity, and youth empowerment.

💙 Building a Future Where Youth Thrive means ensuring that Indigenous youth are seen, heard, supported, and celebrated—not just today, but every day.

Keeping Youth in Schools and Out of the Justice System!

In recognition of Youth Justice Action Month (YJAM), JusticeLink is hosting members of the Coalition for Juvenile Justice’s (CJJ) School-to-Prison Pipeline Subcommittee for an important virtual conversation on how schools and communities can work together to prevent youth justice system involvement.

Join us as we explore national trends contributing to the school-to-prison pipeline, federal funding opportunities that support prevention and alternative approaches, and promising school-community partnerships making a difference.

💬 Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions, connect with advocates, and learn how to get involved with CJJ’s School-to-Prison Pipeline Subcommittee.

Together, we can strengthen schools, expand opportunities, and build a future where young people thrive!

Education and Empowerment: A chance to discover what they are capable of.

As advocates, it is important that we take time to teach others how to navigate systems that criminalize. An educational tool that helps empower young people, their families and communities is a Know Your Rights pamphlet or presentation. Creating short, easy to understand, and simple brochures or reference materials can fill the educational gap, and teaching young people and their community how to share the information through presentations to their peers helps to empower the entire community.

Do you have a Know Your Rights presentation or pamphlet that could be useful to young people? Link it below. If not, we encourage you to build one this week.

This first week of is all about Education & Empowerment so we’re highlighting a resource designed to help educators better understand and address the school-to-prison pipeline.

The Juvenile Justice Educator Toolkit, created by our wonderful Harvard graduate students who recently completed their program, provides information and resources to help educators support young people and promote alternatives to justice system involvement.

Check out the toolkit and share it with an educator, school leader, or youth-serving professional in your network! https://ow.ly/m99q50ZVqrN$

10 years of Pushout. One powerful reminder of why stories matter.

This Banned Books Week, we’re highlighting Dr. Monique Couvson’s Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

As we continue Youth Justice Action Month, Pushout reminds us of the importance of listening to young people, challenging systems that push them out, and protecting access to stories that spark understanding, conversation, and change.

A special thank you to Dr. Monique Couvson for allowing us to highlight her and this important work during Banned Books Week and YJAM. We’re grateful for her continued commitment to centering the experiences and voices of Black girls.
