Marine Technology Society The Marine Technology Society is the leading international community of ocean engineers, technologists, policymakers, and educators.

The Marine Technology Society was incorporated in June 1963 to give members of academia, government and industry a common forum for the exchange of information and ideas. Our guiding purpose is:

“To promote awareness, understanding, advancement and application of marine technology.”

MTS is hiring a MATE Competition Registrar to support our flagship program the MATE ROV Competition. This part-time contractor position is responsible for overseeing MATE competition registration planning and coordination, organization and management of databases, maintaining documentation and compliance of registered participants. This role will manage and administer the registration system of the MATE ROV Competition to support regional competitions and the MATE World Championship event.

✨ Essential functions include:
- Managing the event registration system (Active)
- Refining and documenting the process for gathering and tracking regional registration information
- Compiling the annual competition registration data and summary report
- Contributing registration data to inform the process for tracking competition network and revenue growth

The MTS Dynamic Positioning Committee has released a new draft TECHOP for industry review: TECHOP D-13 (Rev1, Sep26): Methods for Proving the Fault Ride-Through Capability of DP Vessels with LV AC and DC Power Plant.

The guidance addresses how to demonstrate fault ride-through capability in DP vessels and applies to both newbuilds and vessels already in service.

🌊 Congratulations to Awtij, Indigenous Marine Intelligence, on winning a CAD $100,000 funding award!

Based in Lennox Island First Nation, Prince Edward Island, Awtij is advancing ocean observation with AI-enabled sensor systems that turn working boats, including fishing vessels and Indigenous Guardian patrol boats, into platforms for collecting valuable ocean data.

Funded by the Marine Environmental Observation, Prediction and Response Network (MEOPAR), this award recognizes innovative solutions that improve our understanding of the ocean while supporting healthier marine ecosystems and a more sustainable ocean economy.

As the winner, Awtij will be invited to present at Ocean Exchange in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, October 25-27, and will have access to the network support Ocean Exchange provides its fall finalists, including ocean tech investors and strategic partners.
