The Nobel Peace Prize should honor peacemakers, not reward prejudice.

We strongly condemn the decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, whose longstanding record of anti-Israel bias, defense of antisemitic rhetoric, and ideological advocacy undermines the very principles of impartial justice.

Rather than reward a peacemaker, the Nobel Committee rewarded a purveyor of prejudice.

Decision to honor Navi Pillay rewards decades of anti-Israel bias and political advocacy masquerading as human rights. New York, NY — Betsy Berns Korn, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

Today marks three years since the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. It should have been a day devoted to remembering the 1,200 innocent people murdered by Hamas, honoring the sacrifices of Israel’s fallen soldiers and their families, and reaffirming our shared commitment to confronting terrorism and antisemitism.

Instead, Mayor Zohran Mamdani chose this solemn day to advance his familiar attacks on the Jewish state.

New York, NY — Betsy Berns Korn, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations joins our partners at the CIJA - Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, as well as Federation CJA, in standing with the Sons of Jacob Congregation community and Jews across Ontario and Canada following the horrific shooting outside the synagogue as worshippers gathered for Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year.

We pray for the full recovery of Constable Jeff Smith, whose heroism protected the congregation and saved lives.

Jews everywhere must be able to gather, pray, and live openly and proudly without fear. Leaders in Canada and around the world must confront antisemitism and extremist violence with urgency before more lives are lost.

The next generation of Jewish and pro-Israel leaders is not waiting for the future. They are already leading.

In a new EJewish Philanthropy column, Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations Chair Betsy Berns Korn and CEO William Daroff reflect on the young leaders they met this summer and the responsibility of Jewish institutions to make room for them, trust them with meaningful responsibility, and help them build the skills and relationships that will sustain Jewish communal life for years to come.

“The strongest leaders have strong spines and open ears.”

A few weeks ago in Washington, D.C., we were asked what gives us confidence about the future of the Jewish community. The answer was sitting in front of us: we were speaking with hundreds of Jewish and pro-Israel student leaders at the Israel on Campus Coalition National Leadership Summit. Now, with...

See the Declaration on Zionism and Antisemitism: Jewish communities and organizations from across the world came together in Jerusalem with a common message: Zionism is part of Jewish identity, and we will not allow others to define it for us.

Attached is the J50 Declaration on Zionism and Antisemitism, adopted by Jewish leaders and organizations representing communities from across the Diaspora at the J50 gathering in Jerusalem, which I chaired. Conference of Presidents Chair Betsy Berns Korn joined me in representing the Conference thro...
