One of our goals for Lavender Law® Chicago is to connect with the city and its communities in meaningful ways—not just gather inside the conference hotel. This year, we're proud to partner with local organizations including Brave Space Alliance and Life Is Work, support the Chicago American Indian Community Collaborative, and highlight Chicago's rich Ballroom culture through a special conversation and performance with Figure 8 and members of the city's Houses of Ballroom.

From learning opportunities to celebration, we're excited to invest in and uplift the people and organizations that make Chicago such a vibrant, resilient, and welcoming place. We look forward to bringing you into these experiences and strengthening our connection to the city that is hosting us.

Ten years ago today, the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, was the site of one of the largest mass shootings in U.S. history. Forty-nine people lost their lives, and dozens of others were injured, on what should have been a night of community, joy, and the celebration of diversity.

But just because one type of violence ends doesn’t mean the harm has stopped. In August 2025, the Florida Department of Transportation painted over the rainbow crosswalk that has been part of the Pulse memorial since 2017.

We refuse to let the state erase these loved ones’ memories or their stories. We stand in solidarity with Florida’s LGBTQ+ community today, and every day, as it fights to keep the memory of the Pulse victims alive. The state can paint over as many landmarks as they want — we’ll keep telling these stories, lifting up their memories, and fighting for justice.

Today, especially, we’re holding in our hearts all of those who suffered or lost someone they loved that night at Pulse, and we send a special message of love to our Florida affiliates, the Central Florida Gay and Le***an Law Association, and the Florida Association of LGBT Lawyers & Allies. 🩷

The loudest voices speaking out against LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality love to talk about how being part of the LGBTQ+ community makes someone’s life worse — individually, socially, communally, you name it.

But we know better. Being a member of the LGBTQ+ community has helped so many of us grow, thrive, find connection, question the status quo, and dedicate ourselves to justice.

We asked our members: “How has being part of the LGBTQ+ community changed your life for the better?” Their answers were inspiring. Check them out … and share yours in the replies below!

The landscape of LGBTQ+ legal advocacy is evolving rapidly and so are the strategies, skills, and visions that sustain our movement. We designed the core themes of this year’s Lavender Law® Conference & Career Fair to meet those needs — but we’re also looking ahead to the future.

In this last installment of our series highlighting some of the sessions and workshops from each of our five themes, check out these sessions from “Provocations & Possibilities: Bold Ideas, New Horizons in LGBTQ+ Advocacy.”

Each session will present emerging research, cross-disciplinary experiments, and visionary strategies for redefining LGBTQ+ legal advocacy. Because this moment is not forever — and a just and inclusive future for all LGBTQ+ people is still possible if we fight for it.

Want to see more? Explore the full Lavender Law® program and register to join us in Chicago on July 13-15 at https://lgbtqbar.org/annual/.

As an LGBTQ+ organization, we share what we’re proud to do for LGBTQ+ legal professionals all year round — not just in June.

This month, we’re lifting up the voices of our members from across the country, who told us what pride, q***r identity, and being part of this community mean to THEM. We’re so excited to share their stories with you.

We asked: What does being part of the LGBTQ+ community mean to you? We’d love to hear your answers, too — drop them in the replies below! 🩷
