What do kids say when you ask them why they volunteer?

“People got food that they needed.”

“Because people don't have food.”

“Some people don't have food, but they need food to grow big and strong.”

At a recent community market, Paloma and Ceci were strong helpers, passing out fresh produce and helping neighbors bring home the food they need.

Moments like these remind us that it’s never too early to instill a love of community and service—and that even the smallest hands can play a big role in helping a community thrive. 🌽🍍

When school cafeterias close for the summer, many children lose access to the meals they receive during the school year. That's why our Summer Meals Program is back ☀️

Today marks the start of summer meal service across the DMV, with additional sites opening on a staggered schedule throughout the coming weeks.

🍎 Free, nutritious meals are available for kids and teens all summer long.
📍 Visit www.kidsmealsdmv.org to find a site near you, check hours, and see when locations in your community begin service.

This month, we're grateful to Diversified Foods for donating a truckload of shelf-stable milk to help nourish children and families across our region.

This donation provides 77,520 servings of milk, with 8 grams of protein in every serving. That's more than 620,000 grams of protein 💪

Food and healthcare in one place ✨

During a recent distribution with one of our DC partners, Allen Chapel AME Church "The Cathedral of Southeast", neighbors received nutritious food and had the opportunity to access health services from Kaiser Permanente's mobile health vehicle.

We're grateful for partnerships that help make it easier for community members to connect with the resources they need to support their health and well-being!
