As a proven talent pipeline, AmeriCorps recruits local residents to drive immediate impact while preparing the next generation of leaders. In fact, nearly half of our volunteers transition into permanent careers across the nonprofit and public sectors.

You don’t have to schedule a new meeting or site visit to connect with your lawmakers this August recess.

Look for opportunities that are already happening in your community. Check your members of Congress’ calendars for town halls, community events, and other public appearances where you may have a chance to connect. And take a look at your own program’s calendar - could you invite a lawmaker to an upcoming service project, swearing-in ceremony, 9/11 Day event, or other community event?

These moments can be a simple way for AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps Seniors programs to introduce their work, share the local impact of , and build relationships with the lawmakers who represent their communities.

This month, identify one opportunity to engage your lawmaker and use our Advocate’s Guide to help you make the most of it.

State Service News!

On July 20th, AmeriCorps announced they are awarding more than $387 million in AmeriCorps State and National federal funding. These grants will assist state service commissions, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and AmeriCorps Volunteers who are getting things done.
