Meet Brian Wood, a 2026 RTX SPY-6 Scholarship recipient. Twelve years as a Navy Seabee took Brian from Guam to Papua New Guinea. Now he's pursuing dual Master's degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Management at University of Colorado Boulder.

Chapter Advisor of the Year. Advisors are often the least visible part of a chapter and frequently the reason it holds together. The person who found the room when there was no room. Who sat through the meeting that ran long. Who knew which office to call and called it.

Here's the thing about this award: your advisor is probably never going to nominate themselves. If nobody in the chapter takes action, they're simply not considered.
Anyone can nominate, and multiple nominations for the same advisor are welcome.

Less than a week remains to nominate your chapter for the 2026 SVA Chapter of the Year Award.

This award recognizes the chapter that built real community: within its membership, across campus, and throughout the military-affiliated community. Not the biggest chapter. The one that showed up. And your chapter probably did more this year than you remember. Scroll back through your photos. The turnout. The new members. The events. The person who found a community because your chapter was there.

Monday, October 12 is Indigenous Peoples' Day, a day of reflection, recognition, celebration, and education.

The day is meant to uplift and recognize the history and contributions of Indigenous peoples and Tribal Nations. It is a time to reflect on our country's history and the role Native people have played in it, and to celebrate and learn about the diversity of Indigenous peoples today.

Honoring a people means telling their story the way they would tell it. Today we listen to Native voices, and we honor the Native service members and veterans in our chapters and on our campuses.
