At Safe Bars, we know that safety doesn’t stop at the door. It lives in how we respond when harm happens.

That’s why we created an anonymous reporting system for events, regardless of their size, so that you can speak up without fear of retaliation or exposure.

A good example of this is our work supporting Campers at . Ensuring our bartenders are safe and acclimated in the heart of bluegrass country, Kentucky, is one of our favorite things to do. As we wrap the second session of the year, we are proud to spearhead safety at the source where the top Bartenders come to fellowship and learn.

Your safety matters. Your voice matters. Your story matters. And we’re here to help. Contact us today to get use our reporting system at your next conference or event.

On 🌍, we’re reminded that sustainability isn’t just about the planet, it’s about people, too.

A truly sustainable bar culture supports the humans behind the bar, encompassing their safety, well-being, and ability to thrive under pressure. With the right tools, you can take action, cool things down, and protect your team and your community.

Our de-escalation trainings teach hospitality workers how to stay grounded, not frozen. Our trainings teach the belief that sustainability starts with care.

Can we have this dance???

🖤 The Safety Dance is back! Our annual campaign invites bars, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, and event spaces to feature a signature libation on their menu throughout April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).

💛 How it works: Participating venues add The Safety Dance beverage to their menu and donate $1 per drink sold to Safe Bars to help our mission to end sexual violence in the hospitality industry.

🩶 Why this matters: EVERYONE deserves safe and welcoming nightlife spaces.

🍸Sign up via our link in bio or email [email protected]! If you can’t rock out with a cocktail but still want to support The Safety Dance, consider donating to our campaign.

Wondering how to prepare your staff and guests for a safe St. Patty’s Day and other high traffic events? Develop House Rules with your team and post them on your website and in busy areas like hallways and bathrooms! House Rules help prevent harassment and aggression in your bar spaces by clearly communicating your establishment’s values, culture, and expectations for behavior. Set the tone for what degree of rowdiness your bar will allow, from zero to Yippee Ki-Yay 🤠!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, let the force be with you! Like this post and give us a share in your stories 💚⚡️.

Our International Women’s Month series continues with our very own, Alana Koenig-Busey (.koenigbusey). Alana lives by the motto, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” She serves as both a TIPS and Safe Bars trainer, and in her work with the Brewers Association and Crafted For All, she has helped to foster and create safe and inclusive spaces in the craft beer community. In her current role as Program Manager at the , she looks forward to bringing her passion and skills to do the same and more for Black brewers and brewery-owners everywhere. Alana explains:

“As a woman and long-time beverage alcohol industry professional, I believe deeply in the power of creating safe, respectful spaces where EVERYONE can enjoy themselves without fear. That’s why I’m proud to serve on the Board of Directors at Safe Bars—an organization dedicated to equipping bar and restaurant staff with the tools to prevent harassment and violence, ensuring our industry is a place where people feel secure and valued.

The beverage alcohol industry thrives on community—through the relationships we build with colleagues, guests, and those we serve. By fostering a culture of safety and respect, we strengthen those connections and create environments where everyone can connect, grow, and thrive. This International Women’s Month, let’s stand together to make our gathering spaces safer and more inclusive for all.”

This past Monday marked the start of a beautiful collaboration with our fellow grant recipient, . As many know, FOH launched their scholarship program in 2023 to mentor, uplift, and support bartenders who are often left behind when it comes to professional development and upward career mobility. Safe Bars is proud to support FOH’s mission by providing Active Bystander Intervention Skills training to their scholarship alumni.

“Providing past cohorts with Safe Bars’ training is a perfect example of ways we are able to offer these emerging leaders with the tools they need to be excellent leaders in the communities and their workplaces.” -Alex Jump, FOH Founder and DO
