Like so many older adults, Jaimee juggles multiple jobs to make ends meet. AARP recently spoke with the 52-year-old Florida resident, who is juggling jobs as an actress, personal trainer, brand ambassador, and insurance representative.

“What I wish for myself is that I would eventually be able to retire, but it’s highly unlikely. Everything is so expensive,” she said.

Jaimee's story isn’t uncommon. Across the country, people are working hard every day and still feeling the pressure of rising costs. Find resources that could help you or someone you love make ends meet: http://spr.ly/6189B8qRBJ.

When longevity expert Ken Stern traveled to Presidio County, Texas, he wanted to understand why people there live longer than they do in almost any other county in the U.S.

“It wasn’t about food. It wasn’t about exercise. It wasn’t about health care. It was a story about social connection," Ken said at a recent event celebrating National Volunteer Month.

Longevity expert shares why connection matters for healthy aging.

👀 Can employers ask you for your age on job applications?

The answer: It's complicated. The federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) protects adults age 40 and older from being penalized due to their age. But the law doesn't actually prohibit employers from asking how old you are on job applications or during job interviews.

Get the full scoop from AARP.

Some questions on job applications can leave job seekers vulnerable to age bias. Here's what some states are doing to protect older workers.

“The moment you announce you’re retiring, everyone assumes the goal is to stop. To finally lounge. To finally not have to work. That was never my mindset," says Holly Morris Espy, age 55.

No older adult should ever have to choose between filling a prescription and paying for groceries, rent, or other basic necessities.

In a BIG victory for older adults and their budgets, the Supreme Court declined to hear a drug industry challenge of a law that allows Medicare to negotiate prices on certain high-cost prescriptions. AARP Foundation filed amicus briefs in the courts, and AARP fought hard for this new law giving Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices.

On Memorial Day, as we remember and honor those we've lost, we invite you to learn more about John Hayden West, a Vietnam War soldier killed in action while providing cover for the evacuation of wounded men.

“When I was younger, it was far too emotional for me to relive that time in my life,” says John's widow, Linda Port, who is now in her 70s. “At my age, there is more time to reflect.... I’m able to recognize his service, what he did.”
