Deaf in Government (DIG) gives special thanks to the DC Association of the Deaf for hosting this meet & greet and creating space for Deaf community members to engage directly, ask questions, and be part of the conversation.

Accessible civic engagement matters. Deaf people deserve full access to candidates, campaigns, public meetings, voting information, and every part of public life.

Disclaimer: DIG does not endorse, support, or oppose any particular candidate, campaign, political party, or partisan political position.

The FCC just dropped its compliance guide for video conferencing accessibility — and it's a big deal for Deaf professionals.

By January 12, 2027, platforms must support sign language interpreting, accurate captions, and integrated VRS. Users get control over caption display and window layout. No more fighting to pin your interpreter.

DIG breaks down what the new rules require and what public servants can do now.

Deaf in Government is now featured on the National Association of the Deaf - NAD 2026 conference site. More than a workshop track, it’s a signal: DIG belongs in the national conversation on accessibility, leadership, and inclusive public service. We look forward to gathering in San Francisco for the 58th Biennial NAD Conference, June 30–July 5, 2026.

If you’re considering a session, workshop proposals are due March 15, 2026. Come join us!

A member emailed us earlier today: “Nobody ever explained the TSP to me.”

That hit a nerve - because it’s common, and it’s a fixable problem.

So we built a simple, Deaf-friendly Thrift Savings Plan simulator game you can click through and learn by doing:

https://deafingov-tsp.my.canva.site

What it is:
• A plain-language, interactive way to understand the moving parts (contributions, growth over time, and the “so what”).
• Designed to be approachable first, accurate second, and not drown you in acronyms.

What it’s not:
• Not financial advice.
• Not a replacement for TSPgov or your benefits office (those are the official sources for rules, limits, and forms).

What we need:
• Try it for 3 minutes.
• Reply with: (1) what clicked, (2) what didn’t, (3) one sentence you wish someone had told you on Day 1.

If this helps even a few people avoid years of confusion, it’s already worth it.
